The Hong Kong Consumer Council, together with the Electromechanical Department, tested 20 USB chargers, covering prices ranging from 50 yuan to 324 yuan. The test found that many chargers had design problems, which might lead to short circuits. Only six chargers with single USB output and produced by mobile phone brand manufacturers passed the test.

The report of the Mechanical and Electrical Department said that although some products could not pass some requirements in the test, they would not pose a danger under normal operation. The six models that have passed the test are all launched by mobile phone manufacturers, which are:
