Samsung mobile phones have distinguished the Exynos and Qualcomm versions according to different regions and networks for a long time, and there has always been an unwritten rule that the Exynos version is better than the Qualcomm version. In addition to ISP and algorithm optimization, sensors are also a crucial issue. Today, let's take a look at the differences between Samsung's mobile phones in different regions.
About Galaxy S4
Back in the era of Galaxy S4, the dual quad core (Exynos 5410, which does not support HMP, MTK even called it "fake eight core") that is, the I9500 used Sony's flagship product IMX135, which was also the first stack sensor. The i9505 of Qualcomm's quad core Snapdragon 600 is said to use Sony's back lit IMX091PQ sensor, and their ISPs are made by Fujitsu and Qualcomm respectively. As far as the picture quality is concerned, I believe everyone who has played with it knows that the I9500 is much better than the I9505... Luo Yonghao said at the Smartisan T1 launch conference that they adjusted the camera based on the I9505 that was "the best one to take pictures" at that time (or more importantly, the best in their eyes?). Obviously, Mr. Luo ignored the existence of the I9500 and found the wrong reference system.
The above is a screenshot of the I9505. The performance of the Snapdragon 600 itself is not very strong, and the sensor still needs to shrink. The rear model here is M10M0 , front model S5K6B2YX 。
We also heard that Samsung likes to play the local emperor version. Where is the "emperor"? In configuration, accessories and materials. Not to mention the configuration. Accessories include the Korean version, which has always been called the "conscience of the industry", "dual charge and dual charge" (unfortunately, Galaxy Note4 breaks this tradition). If the materials are used, the Korean version, even the battery and the seat charge, are Made in Korea, which is slightly better than the Chinese version in terms of workmanship. The Galaxy S4 also happens to have a Korean version of the high profile emperor version, which is mainly replaced by the Snapdragon 800 and supports LTE-A network. Compared with the Snapdragon 600 version, this "emperor version" and the dual quad core version both use IMX135. Although the sensors are the same, the photo taking effect is obviously different from the dual quad core version.
As can be seen from the figure, the "Emperor Edition" Galaxy S4 is the E330, and the rear is IMX135 Sensor, front is Samsung's own S5K6B2YX 。
So, how should photos of S4 version 3 be arranged? According to the author, it is as follows:
Dual quad core>>>Snapdragon 800>Snapdragon 600
Among them, there is a big gap between the dual quad core and the Snapdragon 800. The picture purity and color are not the same level. The domestic mobile version we have more contact with is the Snapdragon 600. In addition to the Unicom single card version I9500, the optimization of the dual card version and the telecom version of Unicom is slightly poor... So we can understand why many players think that the photography of the Galaxy S4 is not very good.
About Note3
The two versions of the sensors in Note3 are identical, both of which are Sony's first generation stack IMX135. It's a pity that the author hasn't used Snapdragon 800's Note3 for a long time, so here's a screenshot of Exynos:
Post IMX135 , front S5K6B2YX The configuration is exactly the same as that of S4 dual quad core and Snapdragon 800. It should be noted that the prefix "SLSI" in the front represents the sensor made by Samsung, the same below.
About Galaxy S5
The version distribution of Galaxy S5 is exactly the same as that of Galaxy S4. At the same time, Snapdragon 801 and 8-core Exynos 5422 were launched (now all 8-cores can be opened, true 8-core). Later, the high-end Snapdragon 805 was launched. Snapdragon 801 and Exynos 5422 both use Samsung's new ISOCELL sensor, 16 million, native 16:9, 1/2.6 inch sensor. This parameter is really impressive. The real shooting effect does not disappoint us. The daylight photography is powerful, the white balance is accurate, and the real-time HDR is fast and effective. But they have a common weakness that the dark imaging is extremely poor... However, Although these two versions have a lot in common, we still need to explain a cruel fact: Exynos 5422 is still better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 in taking photos. The most obvious difference is the focusing ability in dark light and the night scene shooting effect.
True Eight Core S5, G900H, This time, the eight cores are relatively rare, and only some smuggled goods can be found. The national capital is the dragon 801. Post is S5K2P2 That is, ISOCELL. The front is a model not seen before S5K8B1YX (This is somewhat controversial, as will be mentioned below). Interestingly, compared with S4 and Note3, this front camera has a smaller sensor size, which can be interpreted as backward... However, before Galaxy Note4, Samsung's self portraits were not very good, and I never used it to take photos with such a stinking beauty
Our most common G900F (international version, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) is exactly the same as the sensor used in G900H S5K2P2 , front S5K8B1YX 。
Then talk about the "Emperor Edition". The advanced version of the Galaxy S5 has been greatly improved. It is available in SoC, screen Ram capacity and eMMC have been upgraded in all aspects, and there is also an unknown change. The Galaxy S5 high configuration and sensor have been replaced... It uses Sony's IMX240, which is said to be a cut version of IMX200. The IMX200 uses Z1 and Z2 (they are also two different IMX200 branch versions), and the IMX240 is a 16:9, 1/2.6 inch bottom sensor (IMX200 20.7 million pixels, 4:3, 1/2.3 inch sensor). This parameter is the same as the other two versions of ISOCELL. It is likely that Samsung asked Sony to customize it according to its own parameters. So the IMX220R of the MX4 is not the first high-end camera sold by Sony, but the high-end Galaxy S5.
Directly to the truth, the rear is Sony IMX240 , the front is Samsung S5K8B1YX , the same as the regular Galaxy S5.
With Sony's sensor and Snapdragon 805's ferocious ISP, will the night view of the high configuration Galaxy S5 be better? Unfortunately, the fact is still too cruel... The high configuration Galaxy S5 night shot is still tragic, and more tragic than the ordinary version... The following is a comparative sample:
The brightness, details, and smearing are obviously different, and the author can't bear to go on... The "Emperor Edition" is so hung and beaten by what most people think is the "Beggar 3G Edition" (the left Exynos version of Galaxy S5, the right Snapdragon 805 version of Galaxy S5)
How should I take photos of the three versions of Galaxy S5?
Eight cores>Snapdragon 805 ≈ Snapdragon 801
The eight core version is very rare, after all, it is only available in the gray market. The Bank of China is all in one Snapdragon 801. Snapdragon 805 is a special Korean version. It is said that another G901F in the international version also uses Snapdragon 805 and 1080P screen. Unfortunately, it has not been seen in the market, and the situation is unknown. Here is a small question. The S5 camera has a "picture stabilization" function, which can be understood as the night scene mode. After opening, the purity and brightness of the night scene will be greatly improved. It is estimated that this is achieved by lengthening the exposure time. However, opening this mode requires a more stable hand, so the film rate of Galaxy S5 without OIS is not high, The above comparison is based on the situation after this mode is turned on, otherwise the night photos can be said to be impossible to see.
About Galaxy Note4
Seeing this shows that you have a good patience. Someone must call the editor a title party. It is written in Galaxy Note4, but has not been mentioned yet? Hold your horses for a while. The wonderful things will come. Galaxy Note4 is this year. I believe there is no objection. The Exynos 5433 and high-frequency Snapdragon 805 dual versions of the eight core A57+A53 show enough sincerity. The 5.7 inch 2K screen, 3G Ram and eMMC5.0 are also top configurations now. What about the camera? It has been widely rumored that Galaxy Note4 will use Sony IMX240 and OIS optical anti shake and various depth predictions before the launch conference. At that time, the author was also convinced that Samsung had given up ISOCELL this time, and recognized it... However, at the sight of the newly arrived Galaxy Note 4 in Hong Kong, my friends and I were shocked:
The rear camera is still the familiar model, S5K2P2 , that is, the ISOCELL on S5. What about the agreed IMX240? The front is a new model, S5K6D1YX , because the model is too new, the data cannot be found temporarily. Of course, the Galaxy Note4 is a 3.7 megapixel front, and the model is not the same as before, which is very normal (but there will be a small problem, which will be described below).
How about the image quality of ISOCELL's Note4? As expected, the combination of Exynos divine oil and OIS did not disappoint us, so we sent a sample (click to see the large picture):
The Galaxy Note4 and Galaxy S5, which also use 16 million pixel ISOCELL, show completely different image quality, brightness, detail and white balance. Galaxy Note4 can be called the best Galaxy S5.
Then there is ISOCELL for IMX240. Sorry, we haven't got another version of Galaxy Note4 here, so we can only make a brief comparison:
Vision, the two are strangely consistent, and Samsung is "drunk" because they can make the same effect on the two sensors. However, the taste of the Galaxy S5 in sharpening is a little more aggressive, and the color of Note 4 is a little more saturated (Galaxy S5 of Snapdragon 805 on the left, Galaxy Note 4 of Exynos on the right).
Close range daylight imaging, white balance and details are better in Note 4 (Galaxy S5 of 805 version of Snapdragon on the left, Galaxy Note 4 of Exynos version on the right).
Needless to say about the night view, there is a big gap (click to view the large picture):
Galaxy Note4 Exynos
Galaxy S5 Snapdragon 805
The last screenshot of BOC Mobile Note4, N9108V (thanks for xiao1u), IMX240 It's easy to understand how to put the front S5K8B1YX Isn't this the one with a million years and two million... But the propaganda of the Bank of China everywhere says that the front of Note 4 is 3.7 million pixels, F1.9 aperture... is it... interpolation? Or the engineer was lazy and forgot to change his name? It's not easy to draw a conclusion, but what we can know is that, The rear camera of Note4 of BOC and Hong Kong is different As for the photographing effect, it's hard to say now, because I don't have Note4 of Snapdragon 805, so I have the opportunity to compare it again.
The new member of the Galaxy series, Galaxy Alpha, was added at the same time. We know that its camera is quite wonderful. The 12 megapixel ISOCELL is also 16:9... The rear model is the same as the ISOCELL on Galaxy S5 and Note4 S5K2P2 Is it cutting again? There is no surprise in front, S5K8B1YX , 2 million pixels per 10000 years.
The last night's samples are Note4, S5 and Alpha, all of which are Exynos versions, that is, ISOCELL. The weather was very bad and it was drizzling, so we didn't have to pay much attention to the details. We could just have a look (click to see the big picture):
Galaxy Note 4(Exynos)
Galaxy S5(Exynos)
Galaxy Alpha(Exynos)
On the whole, the imaging styles of the three ISOCELLs are relatively similar, but the pictures taken by Note4 are cleaner than those taken by the other two mobile phones, which can be seen from the noise in the sky.
