Return to the experience evaluation of Fantai Iron 2
Return to the experience evaluation of Fantai Iron 2

As the third mobile phone manufacturer in South Korea, mass consumers have always been very strange to Fantai. However, in the eyes of a small number of mobile phone players, Fantai has always been a mobile phone manufacturer with many tricks and often surprises people. Can the Pantech Iron 2 truly return to its original design style?

In terms of hardware configuration, the Pantime machine has always been the same as the mainstream configuration at that time, and the A910 is no exception. In terms of appearance design, Pantech Iron 2 has finally returned to the A870 metal material and exquisite design style in response to the majority of fans, and has considerable advantages in battery, circumference and feel.

Appearance design:

Japanese and Korean mobile phones often have refreshing designs, among which Pantai is especially famous for the Iron, also known as the A870. The Iron 2 on the A910 crown is obviously an inheritance. Although the ultra narrow frame will never be seen again, the metal skeleton, exquisite workmanship, and special indicator light design undoubtedly moved many Fantai fans.

The Pantech Iron 2 uses a 5.3 inch AMOLED screen, which has a slight shadow of the Samsung Galaxy Note series from the front, but the overall design is much more special than that of common models after the LED indicator lights on the upper right corner are decorated.

On the top are front camera, sensor and earpiece.

Although the Pantech Iron 2 indicator light is in a triangle area on the top like Pantech Iron, compared with the transparent glass cover of Pantech Iron, Pantech Iron 2 is only a small hole, which is more low-key and less cool.

Pantech Iron 2 is designed with physical touch keys. From left to right, there are menu keys, Home keys and return keys. The menu keys and return keys are hidden when not in use. Compared with the Pantech A880, the physical touch keys of Pantech Iron 2 have significantly improved the light overflow.

The left and right sides are respectively the power key and volume key. What makes people complain is that the positions of the volume key and the power key are slightly higher. In my personal holding posture, I have to adjust the gesture every time I operate. The back of the lift is relatively smooth, always giving a feeling of slipping.

At the bottom is the speaker and mirco USB interface. The speaker is designed at the lower left corner, and the palm will be covered when the left hand holds it, but it will not cause sound fading.

Compared with the metal skeleton, the back cover of the Pantech Iron 2 doesn't seem very special because of its texture and workmanship. After the actual touch, people are surprised. The back cover of Pantech Iron 2 is made of plastic and the surface is coated. The actual touch is better than that of BabySkin.

The back of Pantech Iron 2 is relatively simple. There is no fingerprint identification and touchpad of Pantech A880, only a camera and flash. The camera of Pantech Iron 2 has a certain bulge, which is also the addition of optical anti shake and the sacrifice made for the thin body.

Pantech Iron 2 is designed with removable rear cover and removable battery, which supports expansion of memory card. Compared with the overall design of the Pantech A880, the overall integration of the Pantech Iron 2 is higher, giving a very detailed feeling. At the same time, the Pantech Iron 2 is still adhering to the fine tradition of Korean local machines. The Pantech Iron 2 is equipped with two batteries and a charging base.

In terms of single hand holding, the three circumference of Pantech Iron 2 can be said to be the limit of my single hand operation. Of course, the upper area still needs gesture adjustment. The edge of Pantech Iron 2 is relatively smooth, and there is no feeling of top palm. With the combination of tough metal materials and smooth back cover coating, the Pantech Iron 2, with a masculine overall design, will not feel too angular when it is held, but will have a different flavor. Of course, compared with the machine with curved back, it certainly doesn't feel so good.

The screen displays:

Pantech Iron 2 uses a 5.3 inch AMOLED screen, which performs very well in its traditional advantage, that is, black. They are also picky about the visual angle that everyone pays more attention to. There is slight white on the large angle and diagonal line, but it does not hinder daily use. In terms of color restoration, it is slightly oversaturated, which is more eye-catching.

System design:

In terms of system design, the Pantech Iron 2 has made some progress compared with the previous A880. The overall flat design and some details are much simpler. Although there are traces of imitating Samsung and LG, they also have some characteristics of their own. It is based on Android 4.4.2, with less overall changes and good fluency.

Launcher has many customizable items, including icon style, font and sliding effect, which are not inferior in personalization.

The drop-down list is more concise than the previous one, and the order can also be customized. What is more interesting is that the double finger pull down can also call up a filter with shielding effect, but it is a pity that it cannot be operated after shielding.

The overall flat icon design and the logic of menu function placement are also well founded.

It seems to be a mainstream to add various gesture operations, but foreign manufacturers are relatively restrained in comparison. Pantech Iron 2 gesture operation is basically not very practical, and I am not accustomed to using it on the street due to its cool action requirements.

Dual windows and floating widgets have certain advantages in multi task operation, but they can only be selected from a limited number of apps, which is limited.

The powerful task manager can view the usage of related hardware resources, task background locking, application management, etc.

There is also a function called Live Up, which is also smart. Live Up, I think, is an embodiment of checking time with most smartphones. Its main function is to turn on the screen to display time, and then lock the screen by double clicking. Although the actual use is not large, it is really more functional requirements for daily use.

Although the overall system design has considerable improvement and beautification compared with the A880, there is not much highlight and uniqueness in the overall design and functions. But its answer interface is quite good. As shown in the figure above, the answering and hanging up lines are arranged in an arc, which is very convenient for single hand operation and can be adjusted in left and right directions.

Shooting ability:

In terms of shooting hardware, Pantech Iron 2 uses a 13 megapixel F/2.0 camera with optical anti shake support, but the actual effect is still disappointing. On the shooting interface, there is not much change. It is still the familiar flavor of the A880. The shooting interface is simple and clear. There are settings, filters, modes, etc. on the top, and shutter keys, albums, and photography on the bottom.

Multiple shooting modes and filters. On the whole, there are all the things that should be. If you don't succeed, you will be regarded as passing the exam. It continues the previous shooting interface, and takes more care of old users. But frankly, the shooting effect of Pantech Iron 2 is just as bad.

With sufficient light, Pantech Iron 2 performs well in color restoration and white balance. The picture is clean and clear on the whole, but the strange thing is the sharp transition on the line bar, and the whole picture is really always greasy, and the overall shooting is just unsatisfactory compared with the hardware.

In the dark indoor light, with the help of optical anti shake, Pantech Iron 2 still has no hesitation in focusing, which is fast and accurate. Of course, it is still an old problem. The lines are sharp, but the details are still like oil paintings.

In the night scene, even optical anti shake cannot save the Pantech Iron 2. Although the focusing speed is still relatively fast, but often pretending to focus successfully, the actual production is still weak and vague. But the overall white balance is relatively accurate, although it doesn't matter how good the white balance of the painting is.

In general, the overall picture quality of Pantech Iron 2 is better than that of the previous models, but the serious oil painting feeling is still strong. The newly added optical anti shake makes the focusing speed and accuracy remarkable, but it is still covered by the sense of oil painting. Of course, another advantage of Pantech Iron 2 is that its flash is much brighter than that of ordinary models.

In terms of the front camera, the Pantech Iron 2 is simply horrible. After the trial, my sister said, can South Korean girls really tolerate the effect of this machine selfie? Faced with such questions, I can only say that Korean girls are beautiful, so it doesn't matter, does it?

Performance and endurance:

Pantech Iron 2 is equipped with 1080P screen, MSM8974AB processor and 3G RAM. It is a mainstream flagship configuration in terms of hardware configuration, but the actual test is still disappointing. In the theoretical score run, it can be said that each project is far behind the Snapdragon 801 of the same level, even worse than the Snapdragon 800.

Not only did he perform poorly in theoretical scores, but also in actual game tests. When Pantech Iron 2 initially ran Wild Racing 8, the frame number was basically kept at 30fps. However, a game has not yet ended, and there have been frame dropouts. After 10 minutes of operation, the number of frames fluctuates to a large extent between 14 and 18 fps, and frequency reduction has affected the game experience.

One advantage of severe frequency reduction is that the temperature is low. After 15 minutes of wild drag racing 8, the maximum measured temperature is only 36 ° C, while most Snapdragon 800 models are above 40 ° C. Not only is the maximum temperature low, but even if Pantech Iron 2 is made of metal, the frame is only around 30 ° C. Personally, I think it may be Pantech's actual experience will be quite bad after considering that the metal body is heated. Let's take the method of frequency reduction.

Summary:

Fantai can be said to be the favorite mobile phone manufacturer of a small number of mobile phone players. Although it can only be seen in the gray market channels, its excellent hardware configuration, excellent design with a high probability, and rich accessories of Korean version machines can not be said to be worth it. After the A880 and A890 went awry, Fantai finally remembered the widely acclaimed A870, which gave birth to the A910, which can be said to be a beautiful turnaround.

In addition to the serious SoC frequency reduction, the Pantech Iron 2 is undoubtedly the mainstream flagship level in terms of hardware configuration. In terms of screen display and metal skeleton, it can be described as a major advantage and highlight, not to mention the interesting LED indicators and unexpected feel. Of course, adhering to the biggest disadvantage of Pantech, even though Pantech Iron 2 has added optical anti shake, it is still quite unacceptable in terms of photography and imaging.

Pantech Iron 2's hardware configuration and appearance design can meet the needs of people who pay attention to appearance design. Of course, the performance and shooting performance are still inferior, but the decent appearance design and texture can bring back one point. At present, the price of the Pantech Iron 2 is about 2900 yuan. Over time, the Pantech Iron 2 will become another machine with better price performance than that of a few others.
