On January 7, Beijing time, according to foreign media reports, Sony and Motorola have accepted the sample test of MediaTek's MT6589 quad core processor, and will launch smart phones equipped with this processor in the future. According to the news, MediaTek will supply MT6589 quad core processors to domestic and foreign mobile phone manufacturers in March this year, and Sony, Motorola and LG are sure to launch mobile phones equipped with this platform.

It is reported that Lenovo, Huawei, Jinli, TCL, ZTE, Coolpad and Bubu will also launch mobile phones equipped with MT6589 quad core processors, but TCL and Jinli seem to be more active (both want to compete for the first launch).

According to the information previously released, TCL P600 may be the first mobile phone equipped with MT6589 quad core processor. Its body thickness is 8.99mm, and it is equipped with a 4.5 inch qHD touch screen (the surface of the screen is coated with a nano waterproof splash proof fingerprint coating). The memory combination is 1G RAM+4G ROM, which provides an 8 million pixel camera and 1800mAh battery. It runs the Android 4.1 system, and supports the dual card dual standby function (WCDMA/GSM). It is reported that the price of P600 is below 1499 yuan.

MT6589 adopts Cortex-A7 architecture (manufactured by 28nm process), and its main frequency is 1.0GHz - 1.2GHz. It supports LDDR2 memory, 720P display resolution, WCDMA/TD-SCDMA dual network, 13 million pixel camera, and 1080P video decoding. At the same time, the built-in GPU is PowerVR SGX544.
