The Xiaomi Box mainly relies on Airplay, DLNA and Miracast to realize this technology. Now we will introduce these three technologies.

AirPlay

AirPlay is a wireless technology developed by Apple, which can wirelessly transmit pictures, audio, and video from iOS devices such as iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and so on to devices supporting AirPlay through WiFi. Now some traditional home theaters and new power amplifiers and network players of HIFI such as Maranz and Tianlong already support AirPlay.

Project the photos in the tablet to the TV screen through AirPlay

AirPlay also has a very powerful function, which is called AirPlay Image. With the function of Apple TV, you can wirelessly transmit the images on the iPhone or iPad to the TV, that is, what your device displays on the TV screen is what it displays, not just pictures and videos. So it's very cool to play games with this function. You can use the iPad as the steering wheel and watch the big screen to play games.

Put the games in the tablet directly to the TV through AirPlay

In addition, the most outstanding part of AirPlay image is that it can realize dual screen games, so that your games have more interactions. At present, Apple's AirPlay is only applicable to certified Apple devices. At present, Apple's own devices, including iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, etc., support this technology. In addition, there are some devices authorized by Apple's partners, such as providing technically authorized audio to Pioneer and Sony.

DLNA

DNLA ， Digital Living Network Alliance It is a set launched by Sony, Intel, Microsoft, etc PC , mobile devices and consumer appliances. Their purpose is to "enjoy music, photos and videos anytime, anywhere". It is said that Apple was also a member of the DLNA Alliance at that time, but later withdrew and set up its own business.

DLNA and Apple's AirPlay have similar functions and protocols. Both of them can put media content in your phone on the TV screen. The difference is that the DLNA on the mobile phone does not have the image function similar to Apple TV's AirPlay, nor does it have the dual screen game experience supported by Apple TV. At present, DLNA can only send photos and videos of mobile phones to the large screen.

Miracast

Miracast is a wireless display standard developed by the Wi Fi Alliance in 2012 based on Wi Fi direct connection. Devices that support this standard can share video images wirelessly. For example, mobile phones can play movies or photos directly on TV or other devices through Miracast without being affected by the length of the connecting cable.

Different from DLNA, Miracast also has an image function similar to AirPlay, which can put the screen content of the mobile phone directly into the high-definition TV screen, so you can play games through the TV screen.

Because this technology is relatively new, there are not many devices supporting this technology. Miracast we saw on Xiaomi's official website also indicates that it is under development. Android 4.2 currently installed on Nexus 4 supports one of the functions, and other Android devices equipped with Android 4.2 system will also support this new function in the future. It will become the wireless standard for most devices in the future.
