For a long time, when we mention NFC, we always have a thinking pattern that is useless in China. Indeed, one of the major uses of NFC is mobile payment, which is still rare in China. Two high-end mobile phones in China recently Find 5 and Z5 They have added relatively rare NFC functions and provided corresponding NFC tags. What's the role of NFC on these phones? Does this mean that NFC will become the standard configuration of mobile phones in the future?

First of all, we need to understand the characteristics of NFC (Near Field Communication). As the name implies, NFC is a technology of short distance communication. Unlike our common Bluetooth and wifi, it can only carry out short distance communication. The NFC coil on the mobile phone is usually installed in the back case or even directly into the battery. Therefore, we usually conduct NFC induction through the back of the mobile phone.

Although the current application of NFC is not very extensive, many developers have created some unique applications based on the characteristics of NFC. The following is an experiment using NFC mobile phones and related applications.

1. Inductive IC card

This is an application that uses NFC of mobile phone to read non-contact IC card. Common software includes NFCARD, Xiaomu Bus, etc. It supports cards that conform to international standards such as iso7816-3/iso15693/felicia, and can expand to support some special standards (such as pboc2.0 in China). This type of program can be used to read unencrypted balance, transaction record, identification in electronic tag and other information in electronic wallet (mainly bus card).

2. Transmission of specific information

The reason why we use quotation marks here is that Android phones transmit applications through NFC, which is different from what is generally understood. When the sender senses another phone through NFC, it will send the application information to the other phone, and the target phone will immediately open the electronic market and download the relevant applications.

There will also be some extended functions:

1. Both parties have Sina Weibo, and one of the mobile phones opens Weibo, and the other party will immediately display the other party's homepage after receiving the induction.

2. Open Google Maps, and the other party will directly open a web page to display the current location of the sender.

3. Sending contacts is a practical function. The sender can quickly let the receiver receive business card information through NFC.

The following figure shows a shared webpage. The receiver will open the webpage tag that the sender is opening after sensing.

3. Transfer files

This is perhaps the most practical function that we currently use NFC. In the past, our two mobile phones used to transfer files directly through Bluetooth or wifi. The former requires a pairing process, which is slightly cumbersome, while transferring files through NFC reduces this process. As long as one touch, two mobile phones can directly transfer files. Among them, there is a new function called Android Beam in Android devices, which was added after Android 4.0. It allows two devices with NFC to transfer photos, videos and other media files.

In addition, we can also use some third-party software to transfer files via NFC pairing of regular files, such as File Master. Of course, only if both mobile phones are equipped with this software can we achieve relevant functions.

Samsung has done a good job in using NFC to transfer files. When the Galaxy S3 was released, it introduced a new S Beam function, which further speeds up the transfer speed on the basis of Android Beam, because it uses WiFi to transfer files. However, this function has certain limitations, that is, it can only be used on two Samsung mobile phones with S Beam function.

4. NFC label

NFC tag is also a special function of NFC at this stage. Previously, some mobile phones in LG and Sony also provided NFC tags with their mobile phones. Through the NFC tag, convenient operations such as profile switching, calling, texting, etc. can be realized through sensing.

This is the label setting operation of nubia Z5 by using its own NFC label function.

Other mobile phones with NFC can use third-party software to achieve similar functions, and the functions will be more perfect.
