It is reported that, Tegra 4 I The previous development code is "Project Grey". This processor is equipped with four 2.3GHz main frequency Cortex-A9 architecture processor cores, one power saving core, and 60 special Nvidia GPU cores. At the same time, Tegra 4i also integrates the Nvidia i500 LTE data processing unit, making it a mobile processor with both performance and power saving.

Nvidia said that the Tegra 4i processor is jointly designed by Nvidia and ARM and is the most power saving and efficient processor product in the market. Tegra 4i uses the same GPU architecture as Tegra 4. The number of GPU cores in Tegra 4i is five times higher than that in Tegra 3. Tegra 4i can provide a high-quality game experience similar to home console and 1080p full HD resolution display.
Different from Tegra 4 (Cortex A15 architecture), Tegra 4i is a quad core processor based on ARM R4 Cortex-A9 architecture (also has the fifth dedicated core for energy saving). Its main frequency is 2.3GHz, and it is made by 28nm process, with a package size of 12 × 12mm.
Since Tegra 4i is much smaller than Tegra 4, the number of built-in GPU cores is reduced from 72 to 60.
In addition, the processor also supports 2GB LPDDR3 memory and a screen with a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1200. It also has a built-in i500 LTE modem, which supports TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, FDD-LTE and TD-LTE network systems (the maximum download/upload data transmission rate is 150Mbps/50Mbps), but does not support CDMA.

Nvidia also launched the Tegra 4i smartphone reference platform code named "Phoenix". Mobile phone manufacturers can refer to Phoenix to design and produce future Tegra 4i smartphones. The first smart phone based on Tegra 4i will be launched at the end of this year, and more Tegra 4i smartphones and tablets will be launched in 2014.
It is reported that the first smart phone based on Tegra 4i will be launched at the end of this year. Of course, this processor will continue to appear in MWC 2013.
