What should I care about when looking at the sensor?
CMOS, Also known as camera sensor, the core manufacturers are Sony, Samsung and OV Howell.
Indicators that CMOS should pay attention to:
CMOS is "the bottom is bigger than the bottom", including the total size of the sensor and the size of the unit pixel, which directly affects the photosensitivity. It is the number of pixels that affects the ultimate discrimination, but the number of pixels is inversely proportional to the size of the unit pixel, and they are the two ends of the balance (the sensor size is expressed in the reciprocal form, the smaller the denominator value, the larger the CMOS)
The core index is CMOS size, Determine its location directly. The flagship mainstream is 1/1.5 inch to 1 inch level, the midrange mainstream is 1/1.5 inch, and the entry level is mostly 1/2 inch.
Followed by the unit pixel size At present, the middle end is 0.6 μ m to 0.8 μ m, the flagship starts at 1 μ m, with 1.2 μ m to 1.4 μ m upward and 2.4 μ m at the bottom of 1 inch (only 20 million pixels after all);

Calculate sensor area using unit pixel size
be careful:
The "inch" used in the sensor field is not 1 inch=2.54 cm.
Units like "1/1.56 inch" are not intuitive, and from 1/2 inch, "per inch" changes from 18mm to 16mm, which makes people more confused.
The above figure uses the unit pixel size to calculate the sensor area for intuitive comparison.
Then it will be found that: 1/2 inch is only 5% larger than 1/2.3 inch; The flagship mainstream IMX766 in 2022 will be three times the size of IMX214 in 2014, but only half the size of GN2
