We have compared the real GT2 Pro, the JN1 of Xiaomi 12 Pro, the IMX586 of Xiaomi 11 Ultra, and the IMX766 of One Plus 9 Pro before. This article is the photo taking part of the iQOO 9 Pro evaluation drag change, which is compared with the iQOO 8 Pro. The iQOO 9 Pro is the micro platform GN5+JN1 ultra wide angle+2.5 times K3P9, and the real GT2 Pro is the OIS IMX766+JN1 ultra wide angle. The previous generation iQOO 8 Pro has a stronger paper specification, and the micro platform IMX766V+IMX598 ultra wide angle+2.5 times K3P9.

GN5 and IMX766/766V are brothers of different parents, and their specifications are very close. However, the IMX586/IMX598 is a 1/2-inch outsole, which is significantly stronger than the 1/2.76-inch JN1, with more than two generations of specifications. The good news is that the current JN1 has a better lens module, an ISP of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and a stronger algorithm.


"2x zoom" contrast

IQOO 9 Pro and iQOO 8 Pro are both 2.5 times 1600W S5K3P9, 1 μ M+OIS, F2.23, really suitable for comparing the algorithm differences between the two generations of iQOO.

The iQOO 9 Pro and the True Self GT2 Pro are both 150 degree JN1 super wide angles, and the edges of the 150 degree mode inevitably have obvious purple edges and object stretching, but their playing methods are different:

  • The 150 degree self lens is more like a normal ultra wide angle based edge widening, while iQOO is more like a native 150 degree lens. The 6P lens scheme with focus and macro is obviously better. The former gains the discrimination power of the central area (the barrel shaped abnormality changes obviously, but the central object can be divided into more pixels), and the latter gains more normal edge perspective and edge quality (but the central discrimination power needs weakness).

  • In addition, I put the 150 degree mode on the secondary menu, and iQOO is made to put the zoom button on the far left. In addition, the multi frame synthesis strategy and algorithm of 0.6 times and 150 degree mode are the same, and its 150 degree mode has higher usability.

The iQOO 9 Pro has a reduced ultra wide angle specification, but the effect has improved. The photo taking experience can even be said to be "soaring". Compared with the previous generation that tested patience, iQOO 9 Pro has significantly improved shutter response and multi frame synthesis speed.

The iQOO 9 Pro main photography is a typical "win over the algorithm". The prominent feature is that the light metering is slightly bright, and the white balance is completely the eye-catching setting of the X70 Pro+. The contrast is slightly improved, with very strong sharpening, and even the AI pseudo color (the remote building window of the main photography contrast scene 2) that did not exist in the previous generation, coupled with stronger highlight suppression, The first impression of the light and weak light scene is very pleasing (X70 Pro+: I know this well). The algorithm difference between the two generations of iQOO is more obvious on the 2.5 times telephoto with the same hardware. The intergenerational gap is similar to that of Samsung's Galaxy S and Galaxy Note.

The biggest surprise of iQOO 9 Pro photography is super wide angle. Blue Factory has forcibly reversed the disadvantage of the second generation CMOS by relying on lens and multi frame synthesis algorithm. Not to mention the previous generation, it is also five to five. Some scenes can even be pressed. The 150 degree mode is also a big part of the field of vision. The iQOO 9 Pro ultra wide angle multi frame synthesis is very active and faster. The picture details are not as rich as those of the previous generation. The light and dark parts of the weak light scene can see the gap in CMOS size, but the contrast and light and dark details after multi frame synthesis are obviously more pleasing to the eye. The gap is obvious. Even the local Maoists have no face to insist on "first shoot clearly, then shoot well".

Two machines as reference:

  • The main camera and ultra wide-angle field of vision of the real GT2 Pro are narrower, while the JN1 ultra wide-angle and CMOS are small, so it is doomed to eat multi frame synthesis very much, and the indoor dim light must trigger the super night scene. The strong self is good at discrimination, but the multi frame synthesis algorithm is general, like Xiaomi in those days. Complex scenes with large light and dark gaps will suffer (especially highlight suppression).

  • The iQOO 8 Pro tells us that 586/598 and UWA are really "incompatible", not only Xiaomi, but also Vivo's IMX598 UWA, which is really sorry for the cost gap of CMOS.
