Meizu Announces to Shut Down Mobile Cloud Backup
Meizu Announces to Shut Down Mobile Cloud Backup
2022-12-30 18:06

On December 30, the Meizu Flyme official released an announcement in Meizu community, saying that due to business adjustment, Flyme's mobile cloud backup function will be stopped on March 31, 2022, and the cloud backup function entrance will be closed on the day of stop, and all cloud space storage resources will be recycled. Users are advised to backup data or migrate systems as soon as possible.

The announcement also explained that Flyme's data cloud synchronization function (i.e. cloud synchronization of contacts, notes, SMS, call records and other contents) and cloud album function are not affected by this adjustment.

Flyme's mobile cloud backup function is mainly used to upload and back up the desktop layout, applications and system settings in the mobile phone to the cloud. When this function is stopped, it will mainly affect the convenience of old users to directly migrate the old machine applications/desktop layout/system settings when they change new machines.

This is not the first time Meizu has adjusted matters related to cloud services. Previously, Meizu had withdrawn free capacity for a large number of users who had not used the cloud album function for more than 365 days. Combined with the operation of shutting down the cloud backup function, it seems that Meizu is shrinking the resources invested in cloud servers, Of course, this adjustment is obviously not a good sign for users who are still using Meizu mobile phones.
