OPPO officially announced the first self-developed chip: or 6nm independent NPU

On the morning of December 8, OPPO officially announced that its first self-developed chip would be released at the OPPO Future Technology Conference next week.

According to domestic media, OPPO's first self-developed chip will be an independent NPU (neural network processor) chip for AI computing, which will be built with TSMC's 6nm EUV process.

The blogger "Digital Chat Station" revealed that OPPO, a self-developed NPU chip, also has video functions, and is not far from commercial use. There will be many new models of European and Canadian models in the future.

This is also the first time that a product has been launched since OPPO announced the establishment of a chip team for core making in the past two years. The specific performance and application scenarios of this chip will be further revealed at OPPO's next press conference.

After Huawei HiSilicon was sanctioned, the current core making achievements of the remaining mobile phone manufacturers in China - whether surging C1 (the message shows that it may only be Huajing AL6021) Vivo's V1 image chip is the latest NPU of OPPO. At present, it mainly starts with non core functional modules such as ISP and NPU, rather than directly getting involved in the more difficult and complex SoC.

Of course, considering the complexity of NPU is not low and the OEM cost of TSMC's 6nm process, it can be seen that OPPO's investment in core making seems more determined than that of its friends.
