On July 12, it was reported that IDC, an authoritative market research organization, today released a market tracking report on global PC devices (including desktops, laptops and workstations) in the second quarter of 2021.
According to the report, in the second quarter of 2021, the total global PC shipments were 83.6 million units, with a year-on-year growth of 13.2%. Due to the increased demand for PCs and the shortage of notebook computers, the growth of desktop computers exceeded the growth of notebook computers in this quarter.
Specifically, Lenovo shipped 20.05 million PCs this quarter, up 14.9% year on year, and its market share reached 23.9%, continuing to rank first; HP ranked second with 18.594 million units, up 2.7% year on year; Dell, Apple and Acer ranked third to fifth, with shipments growing to varying degrees.
IDC believes that although PC shipments continued to grow in the second quarter, the growth rate has gradually slowed down compared with 55.9% in the first quarter and 25.8% in the fourth quarter of last year. In particular, the demand from individual consumers shows signs of slowing down. As some enterprises resume office work, the demand potential in the commercial PC field is expected to be released in the future.
