Sennheiser officially sold its consumer business: the next largest hearing aid manufacturer in the world

On May 7, the Swiss hearing aid manufacturer Sonova It is announced today that an agreement has been reached with Sennheiser, a well-known audio manufacturer in Germany, to acquire the consumer audio business of Sennheiser (involving personal audio products such as earphones and speakers) and obtain a permanent license to use the Sennheiser brand. It is reported that the acquisition amount is 200 million euros, and this acquisition is expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.

In February this year, Sennheiser announced plans to sell consumer audio business. According to media reports, this decision may be related to Sennheiser's failure in wireless headset business. Most of the market share has been accounted for by non-traditional audio manufacturers such as Apple in the past few years.

Sonova Group, the next company of this transaction, is the world's largest manufacturer of hearing aids. Founded in 1947, it mainly produces hearing aids, cochlear implants and other equipment. Its sales in fiscal year 2019/20 reached 2.92 billion Swiss francs (about 20.78 billion yuan).

Before, there was a joke in the HiFi earphone circle that "the end of burning earphones is burning hearing aids". This time Sennheiser was really in place (wrong).
