This photo comparison is to see the strength of Samsung GN2, the strongest mobile phone CMOS. Competitors include the new flagship One Plus 9 Pro vivo X60 Pro+, And Xiaomi 10 Ultra as the reference baseline.

Who would have thought that the domestic mobile phone sensor would soar from 1/2.55 inch to 1/1.12 inch in a few years, surpassing the 1/1.2 inch Nokia 808 PureView in 2012, and second only to the 1-inch Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 in 2014.

In 2021, the mobile phone AI, multi frame synthesis algorithm and CMOS technology have far exceeded that of that year. The Samsung S5KGN2 on the Xiaomi 11 Ultra is almost all specifications above the Panasonic CM1, except for its slightly smaller size.

Parameter specification

The Xiaomi 11 Ultra main camera is the 5000W Samsung S5KGN2 (the first dual pixel Pro omnidirectional 8-core focusing, dual native ISO, staggered HDR), 1.4 μ m (4 in 1 into 2.8 μ m), 1/1.12 '', 8P lens, OIS, F1.95 aperture. Without the 2x portrait lens, the ultra wide angle and ultra long focus are not the strongest, but also the second flagship level: the 128 degree ultra wide field of view with 0.5x focus is IMX586; The periscope telephoto with 5 times focal length also uses IMX586.

Among the four sets, the vivo X60 Pro+and Xiaomi 10 Ultra specifications are competing. X60 Pro+has GN1 (1.2 μ m, 5000W) with F1.69 aperture and IMX598 (0.8 μ m, 4800W) with micro pan tilt. The long focus is the weak 5x focus OV08A10 (1 μ m, 800W). While the Xiaomi 10 Ultra main camera OV48C (1.2 μ m, 4800W)+5x focus IMX586 (the same model as Xiaomi 11 Ultra) has a 128 degree field of view, but only IMX350 (1 μ m, 2000W).

The one plus 9 Pro with Hasselblad is the only IMX789 (1.12 μ m, 4800W)+the most powerful ultra wide-angle IMX766 (1 μ m, 5000W), but only 3.3 times the telephoto.

5x telephoto contrast

One plus 9 Pro requires 3.3x telephoto+digital cutting to achieve 5x zoom, which is not a category and has no significance for evaluation. The 1/4.4 "OV08A10 of the X60 Pro+and the 1/2" IMX586 of the two Xiaomi have a clear gap even in the daytime.

Although exif information of Xiaomi 11 Ultra shows that it is 127mm (123mm for Xiaomi 10 Ultra), the actual imaging circle is the same as that of Xiaomi 10 Ultra. The two ultra telephoto machines with the same hardware have similar performance, except that the sharpening and noise reduction of Xiaomi 11 Ultra are lighter.

The main camera of the Xiaomi 11 Ultra engineering machine is far from the expectation, and the algorithm seems not adjusted well. The weak light algorithm has obviously lagged behind, so we can only wait for OTA to save the statue, and can't make a conclusion yet. In addition, there are too many fans of faith, so there is no high-low ranking here. Here is the alphabetical ranking:

  • vivo X60 Pro+: The photo taking experience is very good. The algorithm is monosodium glutamate style with high contrast. The 23mm main camera has the largest field of vision, so the analytical power is average. The 5 times long focal length is ordinary, and the film rate is not high. The optical anti shake IMX598 is unexpectedly strong, and can skip the IMX766. Ultra wide angle night scene mode has a high film completion rate. Although its tolerance is lower than that of IMX766, it has stronger discrimination and noise reduction. Next time, we need to catch Find X3 and compare it.

  • Xiaomi 10 Ultra: The OV48C is still young. In addition to the low success rate of focusing compared with other sets, the shooting experience is average. The main camera can also play now, and the 5x telephoto is also very strong. It's just that super wide angle has a big field of vision and good daytime discrimination, but it would be worse if the weak light scene did not trigger multi frame synthesis.


  • Xiaomi 11 Ultra: The GN2 outsole has the most obvious advantage in the daytime (but it needs to be magnified by more than 150% to see it). The picture details and tolerance are really better, but the lighting and weak light scenes that should have more obvious advantages in the outsole have been delayed by the algorithm. The algorithm has a strong flavor of monosodium glutamate, which can be smeared, sharpened, and contrasted. With a combination of punches and unstable light metering, even GN2 is powerless. Ultra wide angle has made progress, but it has not met the expectations. There is still a significant gap between the X60 Pro+and One Plus 9 Pro, the two strongest ultra wide angles.

    Personally, I tend to think that the algorithm is not good enough. Japanese designers will cheat logo money, but Starstar's hardware should not cheat people.

  • One plus 9 Pro: The blue saturation of Hasselblad color is indeed higher. At this stage, the firmware is not perfect, and the flavor of monosodium glutamate is also strong. The high pixel mode is sharpening+interpolation, and there is no need to open it. Although the main sensor is the smallest, the extremely weak light is still slow, that is, the noise is the strongest. The rate of ultra wide angle film formation is average, and there is a big bottom tolerance, but the algorithm loses its analytical power. In addition, it is a pity that only 3.3 times of the telephoto is equipped.
