Howell Technology, one of the three mobile phone sensor suppliers, released the latest micro image sensors OH0TA and OVMed on March 9 ® OCHTA camera module. In addition to refreshing the size record maintained by the previous generation, the new sensor also improves the resolution to 400x400 (4x), 160000 pixels, and supports full pixel 30 frame output.

The diagonal length of the OH0TA sensor is 1/31 inch, about 0.516 mm (in the camera field, it is calculated as 1 inch 16 mm, while the unusual 1 inch 25.4 mm). The unit pixel size is 1.008 μ m, and the imaging area is only 411.264 * 411.264 μ m. It claims that the signal-to-noise ratio is 37.5dB, and the power consumption is reduced by 20%, only 20mW.

 

OVMed ® OCHTA module (sensor plus optical and signal processing devices) has the same size as the previous generation after integrated packaging, 0.65mm x 0.65mm, and the diagonal length is about 0.92mm. Its field of view angle is 120 degrees, focusing range is 3 to 30mm, supports 4-wire interface and analog data output, and can be transmitted with cables up to 4m long.


The optical diameter of the actual product of OCHTA camera module can be reduced to 1-2mm. It is designed for medical endoscope, catheter and guide wire, and can be used in nerve, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, heart, spine, urology, gynecology and arthroscopy, as well as dental and veterinary diagnosis and hand surgery.

But the goal of this generation of sensors is not to continue to reduce the size, but to improve the resolution. In the past, endoscopes used larger sensors, or fiber optic tubes (poor imaging quality). In addition, unlike traditional cameras, OCHTA modules can be reflowed and installed on PCB together with other components to reduce assembly costs. It is claimed that the samples have been released and loaded on pallets.

Officials say it can be used on disposable catheters (to prevent cross infection), and the cost should not be too high. Since the sensor can be so small, as long as the camera resolution is reduced, the sensor manufacturer should be able to insert the camera into the upper frame of the phone, so that it does not even need to use the off screen camera technology (of course, it is estimated that no manufacturer will follow up).

In addition to medical treatment, it is estimated that many people will have many "bold ideas". However, you should not worry too much about the application of dark scenes. 1 μ m unit pixel, and there is no multi frame synthesis in the mobile phone. It is estimated that the problem of "shooting bright" dark scenes is a problem (manual funny).
