On February 4, it was reported that Canon, an old camera manufacturer, announced today that up to now, it has produced 150 million EF and RF series replaceable lenses.

Canon officials also mentioned that the total length of all RF and EF lenses produced so far can reach about 12450 kilometers, almost equal to the diameter of the earth. The 150 millionth lens with milestone significance is a RF 70-200mm F2.8 LIS USM zoom lens.

In 1987, Canon launched an EF bayonet lens system for its EOS series SLR cameras. Over the following decades, EF lenses have continuously developed into a large lens family with a wide range of categories and models, including zoom lenses, IS lenses, large aperture lenses, macro lenses and axis shifting lenses; In 2014, Canon announced that the production quantity of EF series replaceable lenses exceeded 100 million.

In 2018, with the new EOS R series full frame reflex free camera, Canon launched a lens system with RF bayonet, which uses a large bayonet with a diameter of 54mm and a short rear focus distance. So far, 19 lenses have been launched, while the EF and RF lens lineups have a total of 118 models.
