On the evening of January 4, Qualcomm officially released the latest entry-level 5G mobile platform, Snapdragon 480 5G. The new product uses Samsung's 8nm process and claims 100% performance improvement over the previous Snapdragon 460, and supports 5G.
In terms of specific specifications, Snapdragon 480 5G is Samsung's 8nm LPP process:
The CPU part is Kryo 460 architecture, with two 2.0GHz class A76 and six 1.8 GHz class A55. As a comparison, MediaTek Tianji 720 is also a 2 * 2.0GHz A76, but the small core is a 6 * 2.0GHz A55 (multiple cores may defeat Snapdragon 480). The Snapdragon 730G core is 2 * 2.2GHz class A76, and the Snapdragon 720G is higher, which is 2 * 2.3GHz class A76);
The GPU is Adreno 619, which supports 1080P+screen of 120Hz at most;
Up to LPDDR4x 2133MHz memory and UFS 2.2 flash memory are supported;
It integrates Qualcomm Snapdragon X51 5G baseband (the same model as Snapdragon 690), supports mmWave millimeter wave and Sub-6GHz frequency bands, SA independent and NSA independent networking modes. 5G maximum downlink 2.5Gbps, maximum uplink 660Mbps; LTE 4G downlink 800Mbps, uplink 210Mbps;
Support Bluetooth 5.1 and some WiFi 6 features. The FastConnect 6200 chip is used (the real WiFi 6 needs the FastConnect 6800. After all, the Snapdragon 690 does not have the real WiFi 6);
The ISP is Spectra 345, which supports up to a single 64 megapixel camera. It can simultaneously shoot 3 channels of 13 megapixel 30fps video, and video recording can support up to 1080P 60fps.
AI performance improved by 70%, and charging supports QC4+.
The positioning, specification and performance of Snapdragon 480 5G are close to those of MediaTek's Tianji 720 and Tianji 700. The related mobile phone products will be released in the first quarter of this year. I don't know the actual price of the products.
