On January 20, it was reported that LetsGoDigital, a patent rendering master, exposed a patent of Xiaomi called "electronic equipment and hidden camera", which improved the reliability of the lift camera and saved a group of cameras.
Before the off screen camera can be mass produced at a low cost, the elevating camera is still the most mature true full screen solution. The Xiaomi patent exposed this time is an upgraded lift camera.
This patent was approved by USPTO (United States Trademark Office) and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) on January 7, 2021. The patent shows that the sensor of the mobile phone is placed inside the body, facing upwards, and can be used to light through the rising reflector.
The most special thing is that the mirror can rotate, so that it can simultaneously act as a self timer and a rear camera (also can do face recognition). In addition, the angle of the rotatable mirror can also be customized. Like the movable PTZ of the surveillance camera, it electrically controls the direction of the lens (my friend, not me, suddenly remembered a usage).
This scheme is very creative and feasible. It is easier to lift a reflector alone than lifting the whole camera module, and it also saves a group of cameras. The main problem of this scheme is how to control the thickness of the mobile phone, and how to put the large size CMOS in the limited volume. After all, the off screen camera is right in front of us. It is unlikely that the flagship will use such a scheme, but it may appear on the midrange computer.
