On January 28, it was reported that IDC, a market research organization, today released the shipment data of the global smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2020.
IDC data shows that the overall shipments of the global smartphone market reached 385.9 million units in the fourth quarter, up 4.3% year on year, showing a certain recovery momentum.
Among them, Apple, which released the iPhone 12 series in the current quarter, showed the strongest performance, with 90.1 million units shipped, up 22.2%; Later, Samsung shipped 73.9 million units, up 6.2%; Xiaomi shipped 43.3 million units, up 32%; OPPO shipped 33.8 million units, up 10.7%.
However, Huawei began to be affected by the sanctions imposed on the list of American entities. In the fourth quarter, only 32.3 million units were shipped, with a 42.4% drop in shipments compared with the same period last year, and its ranking fell from the second or third place all the year round to the fifth place. Its market share was divided to different degrees by the top four manufacturers; With the shortage of chips and other materials, Huawei's market share may decline further.
In 2020, Samsung (267 million units), Apple (206 million units), Huawei (189 million units, Xiaomi (147 million units) and Vivo (112 million units) ranked the top five respectively, with the total market shipments of 1.292 billion units, down 5.9% from 2019.
