On January 15, it was announced that Samsung today announced the launch of the new 108 million pixel image sensor ISOCELL HM3, which is Samsung's fourth 100 million pixel sensor so far.
ISOCELL HM3 has a 1/1.33 inch base with a single pixel size of 0.8 μ m. Under normal circumstances, 12 million pixel photos are output through nine in one pixels. At this time, the equivalent unit pixel size reaches 2.4 μ m, and 108 million full pixel output is also supported.
ISOCELL HM3 integrates the Super PD Plus focusing function and adds microlens to the phase focusing. The focusing speed is increased by 50% compared with the previous generation, and the night focusing performance is improved.
ISOCELL HM3 also supports a technology called Smart ISO Pro (similar to dual native ISO). The sensor can capture high ISO and low ISO frames at the same time, and combine them into a high dynamic range image with 12bit color depth after noise reduction. This technology also helps to reduce artifacts, and the light sensitivity can be increased by 50% under low noise.
In terms of video, ISOCELL HM3 supports up to 8K 30fps, 4K 120fps and 1080P 240fps video recording.
In addition, it is officially announced that the ISOCELL HM3 with optimized design can reduce the energy consumption in preview mode by 6.5%.
At present, ISOCELL HM3 sensors have been mass produced, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra released last night has been launched for the first time.
