On January 18, it was reported that Ambarella officially released the latest 5nm AI image processing chip CV5 in the previous CES 2021. The latter supports video recording at up to 8K 60fps or 4K 240fps, and can provide obstacle avoidance, visual recognition, driving assistance and other functions for products such as UAVs and tachographs.
Although not as famous as Intel, Qualcomm and other manufacturers, Anba is the core chip manufacturer of tachographs, motion cameras and UAVs. Anba's image processing chips are widely used in GoPro motion camera, Dajiang UAV, insta 360 panoramic camera, various tachographs and surveillance cameras.
The Anba CV5 released this time is positioned as an AI visual processor. 5nm process, dual core A76 architecture CPU (yes, the A76 in Android phone SoC)+Android's own Cvflow AI engine can record 8K video at 2W power consumption:
When used in a sports camera, the Anba CV5 can record video at 8K 30fps or 4K 240fps. At the same time, it supports HDR processor, video anti shake and weak light enhancement;
Its AI part can be used in on-board products to prevent lane departure, forward collision warning, driver monitoring, driver fatigue and other driving assistance functions;
On the UAV, it can also be used for object detection, obstacle avoidance, object tracking, path planning and other functions at the same time while recording up to 8K 60fps and 4K 240fps.
Christopher, vice president of market and business development of Anba, said that it usually takes one year for manufacturers using Anba's new chips to mass produce, so products equipped with Anba CV5 will not be launched until the end of this year or the beginning of next year at the earliest.
