On December 22, it was reported that Meizu, which only launched two models this year, seemed to have to rely on various OTAs to maintain its popularity and sense of presence. Today, Meizu officially announced another software system update: the Flyme 8 of Meizu 17 series will upgrade the bottom layer of Android 11 system. This upgrade will open the internal test recruitment on December 23, and the official system update will be pushed next spring.

In the past, Meizu used to update the Android bottom layer of Flyme compared with MIUI EMUI、 Hydrogen OS is not a top priority for these companies. Almost every generation can only stay in the Android version when it was released that year, which has a certain impact on keeping pace with some underlying function upgrades and security maintenance of Android.

It was not until July this year that old models such as the 16s series got the chance to update Android 10 for internal testing. This time, the speed of updating the bottom layer of Android 11 for the 17 series is relatively fast.

The last stable system upgrade of Meizu 17 series added the MEMC dynamic frame interpolation compensation technology, GPU driver, camera auto exposure and focus locking functions and other updates.

In addition to the system upgrade of existing models, Meizu has also announced that the new Meizu product (traditionally called Meizu 18) equipped with Snapdragon 888 platform will meet users next spring.
