Preview of price increase on the screen? Japan's major glass substrate factory has an unexpected power failure, and it takes 4 months to restore production capacity

Whether making LCD or OLED screens, most screens need glass substrates as raw materials. The supply of glass substrates will directly affect the price of screen panels, which will then be reflected in the price of a large number of devices such as televisions, monitors, mobile phones, etc. Since June this year, the price of display panels has started to rise on a large scale. According to some media reports, the price of panels has risen by 50-70%.

On December 14, it was reported that NEG, a large Japanese glass substrate factory, was located in a factory in Takashi City, Japan, and had an unexpected power failure for 5 hours on the evening of December 11. Due to power failure, the glass was unexpectedly cooled and attached to the feed chute, resulting in damage to 3 glass furnaces and 5 feed chutes.

It is said that the factory has stopped work and is expected to repair two feed chutes in January, but the remaining three feed chutes will be repaired in March next year. Nippon Electric Co., Ltd. contacted all major panel factories urgently last weekend to inform them that the supply of glass substrates would be affected.

Finally, I would like to add the background knowledge of Japan Electric Nitrate. The total market share of Electric Nitrate is less than 20%, but it is a very important second supplier. Its factory in Gaoxushi mainly supplies glass substrates below 8.5 generations, but it also has mainstream glass substrate production lines of 7.5, 6 and 5 generations.

The glass substrate factory in Wuhan has been put into production later, and the price of screen panels has increased significantly in the second half of the year (the growth rate has reached 50% to 70%) Supply and demand are tight, which makes it even worse. It is expected that the shortage of panels will continue until the first quarter of next year.

In a twinkling of an eye, it is the year of frequent floods, fires and power cuts in major international factories. If you plan to buy monitors and televisions in the near future, you may have to hurry up. Buy early, enjoy early, and buy late may not be discounted.
