Huawei's Hongmeng OS was first used on smart devices, but the mobile version of Hongmeng OS that everyone has been waiting for has never had a specific release schedule. On November 24, it was reported that at the EMUI 11 media conference, Mao Yumin, Vice President of Huawei Software Department, predicted that the beta version of Hongmeng mobile phone developer would be released on December 16, and the first models to be carried were Huawei Mate40 series just released.

The press release of the communication conference said, "EMUI is the system UI design, while Android and Hongmeng are the operating systems. Huawei plans to gradually replace the Android system with Hongmeng ". Because Hongmeng OS 2.0 is the bottom layer of the system, it is expected that Huawei Mate40 series will not change greatly in appearance even if it is upgraded to Hongmeng mobile phone developer beta. The situation may be similar to that of MIUI and ColorOS upgrading Android kernel, and the appearance of the system will generally remain unchanged.

On September 10, at the HDC 2020 developer conference, Huawei released Huawei Hongmeng OS 2.0. The latter claims to be a "full scene intelligence" distributed operating system, with distributed soft bus, distributed data management and distributed security. From September 10, Hongmeng OS will open source to 128KB-128MB memory terminals such as large screens, watches, car machines, etc. Next April, Hongmeng OS will open source to 128MB-4GB memory terminals, and next October, Hongmeng OS will open source to more than 4GB memory devices.

The announcement on December 16 was in line with the previous official progress. At that time, it was planned to provide the developer beta version in December, and next year Huawei mobile phones would support Hongmeng OS 2.0. Later, a list of adaptation models came out on the network. The first was Kirin 9000 (Huawei Mate 40 series to be released soon), the second was Kirin 990 5G (Mate30 and P40 series), some Kirin 990 4G models, Kirin 985 and some Kirin 820 models were in the third batch, and the fourth was Kirin 820 and Kirin 980 (Mate 20 And P30 series), Kirin 810 and some Kirin 710 products are the last batch.
