Apple M1 chip running points exposure: multi-core points burst!
Apple M1 chip running points exposure: multi-core points burst!

Apple officially released the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and Mac mini on November 11, using the self-developed ARM chip. On November 12, the scores of MacBook Air for ARM and GeekBench 5.3 for Mac mini revealed the dominant frequency of Apple's M1 chip (CPU part is 4+4 core structure), as well as Apple's terrible multi-core performance.

MacBook Air score and data for M1

In the just updated GeekBench 5.3.0 test, the new MacBook Air model is MacBookAir10,1 (with the 8GB unified memory version), which has four runs, while the Mac mini with fan (the 16GB unified memory version) has only one run,

  • MacBook Pro (with fan) M1 frequency directly reaches 3.2GHz:

  • MacBook Air (no fan) is equipped with 3.14GHz Apple M1

  • The M1 on Mac mini has a main frequency of only 3.04GHz (low price, no human rights?)

  • A14 on iPhone 12 series, detection frequency is 2.99GHz

Mac mini data for M1

According to the score test results, the MacBook Air without fans was still under the control of heat. The single core score was between 1650-1720 points, and the multi-core score fluctuated more, between 6500-7400 points. In the same test project, the Mac mini with a fan only ran once, and the stability could not be determined. But after all, there is a fan, and running several times should not make much difference. The lower frequency makes the Mac mini single core 1682 and multi-core 7097 relatively weak.

Compare:

  • MacBook Air, no fan M1, 3.14GHz, single core about 1700, multi-core 6500-7400

  • MacBook Pro with fan M1, 3.2GHz, single core 1714, multi-core 6802

  • Mac mini, fan M1, 3.04GHz, single core 1682, multi-core 1682

  • The most powerful iPad Pro in service, A12Z, single core 1120, multi-core 4700

  • A14 on iPad Air 4, 2.99GHz, single core about 1590, multi-core about 4300

  • Snapdragon 865, single core about 900, multi-core about 3300

  • Unstrict cross platform data, MacBook Pro 13 inch (i5-1038NG7), single core 1250, multi-core 4300

Apple seems to have forgotten the compatibility of the new processor, and unfortunately, it hardly lowered the price of the new product. But the good news is that the new Apple M1 chip is very strong. Even if there is no fan, it is far stronger than the original 10 generation Intel Core processor (Intel: there is no good thing for your surname A). Of course, there are platform differences. When developers complete the app migration, and the software can actually play a few successful roles in M1, it will have to be tested later.
