Strong enough to explode? Apple M1X: 12 core CPU

Apple used an M1 chip with its own ARM architecture to cry all MacBooks except the 16 inch MacBook Pro. On November 24, it was reported that while Intel was gnashing its teeth, the foreign media techpowerup reprinted Twitter that Apple had prepared a more powerful M1X for the 16 inch MacBook Pro (the specific name is undetermined), and the CPU part of the latter was upgraded to 8 high-performance cores+4 high-performance cores. The GPU part was unknown. It was rumored that it would be released in the first quarter of next year.

Techpowerup reports

Review the specifications of Apple M1 chip, 5nm process, 16 billion transistors, 8-core CPU (4-core+4-core), 8-core GPU and 16 core neural network engine. If the disclosure is reliable, M1X will be one of the few ARM architecture products whose CPUs have broken through 10 cores in recent years (martyrs with 10 core CPUs, MediaTek X25 and X27/X30, which have been released in 2015 and 2017). The additional 4 CPU cores are expected to enable M1X to improve its multi-core performance to the level of Intel and AMD flagship products. According to Apple's habits, the GPU part should also have stack lifting.

It only took 2 months for everyone to become suspicious, curious and blown up about Apple's M1 chip. With the launch of the M1 version of Mac mini/MacBook Pro/MacBook Air, more and more user test results have been released.

  • The M1 version of the MacBook Air, without a fan, even if it uses Rosetta 2 to simulate the X86 version of GeekBench, can still achieve a single core score of 1313 and a multi-core score of 5888. But after the performance loss of about 21%, it still surpasses the i9 version of the 16 inch MacBook Pro.

  • On the GPU side, running Rosetta 2 through "double dolls" (there is no M1 version, it is also translated) can run the games of "Among Us" and "Legion Fortress 2". In terms of productivity, the M1 version of the Mac can partially surpass the i9 version of the MacBook Pro in video editing.
