On September 15, Samsung announced today the launch of four new CMOS models for smart phone imaging systems, including 108 million pixel ISOCELL HM264 million pixel ISOCELL GW348 million pixel ISOCELL GM5 and 32 million pixel ISOCELL JD1.
The single pixel area of these four CMOS models is 0.7 μ m, and the natural largest sensor area is ISOCELL HM2, which is 1/1.52 inch (15% smaller than the previous generation). It supports nine in one pixel output and 3x lossless zoom through cropping, supports Super PD focusing, and supports up to 4K 120fps video recording.
ISOCELL GW3 and ISOCELL GM5 have sensor sizes of 1/1.97 inch and 1/2.55 inch respectively, and support four in one pixel output. The 48 million pixel GM5 is also officially designed for periscope telephoto lens module, which can greatly reduce module bulge.
The 32 megapixel JD1 is only 1/3.14 inch in size and supports four in one output of pixels. It is mainly designed for the front self camera lens of mobile phones. It can be embedded in the hole digging screen or designed as an elevating camera structure.
Samsung officially said that the three CMOS models HM2, GW3 and JD1 have started mass production at present, while GM5 will not start mass production until the fourth quarter of this year.
