On August 18, it was reported that MediaTek had just released a new 5G SoC - Tianji 800U, targeting the mid end 5G mobile phone market and committed to promoting and popularizing 5G mobile phones.
The Tianji 800U still adopts the 7nm FinFET process, integrating two A76 cores with a frequency of 2.4GHz and six A55 cores with a frequency of 2.0GHz. The GPU is Mali-G57 MC3, and is equipped with an independent APU for AI operations.
The Tianji 800U integrates 5G baseband, with a maximum downlink rate of 2.3Gbps, supports 5G dual card dual standby (currently only the MediaTek platform supports this function) and 5G dual carrier aggregation. WiFi only supports the WiFi 5 protocol.
In terms of peripheral hardware support, Tianji 800U supports LPDDR4X memory (up to 12GB 2133MHz) and UFS 2.2 flash memory, the screen supports up to 2520 × 1080 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and also has the ability to play HDR10+content; The camera supports up to 64 megapixel sensors.
From the performance perspective, the Tianji 800U can be regarded as an enhanced version of the Tianji 720 due to the increase in the dominant frequency of the large core, while the number of large cores and GPU cores is less than the Tianji 800, which has been widely used in the market. The latter has four 2.0GHz A76 large cores and four core G57 GPUs.
