Huawei will hold an IFA keynote speech on September 3: Kirin 9000 chip may be announced

On August 24, Huawei announced today that it would hold an IFA keynote speech on September 3, local time in Germany.

According to the warm-up poster currently released, the theme should be related to Huawei's hardware ecology and AI.

In last year's IFA 2019, Huawei released the Kirin 990 series of chips, so it is speculated that Huawei may release a new generation of Kirin chips at the event on September 3 - it is currently rumored that this chip is named Kirin 9000. This generation of chips will adopt the latest 5nm manufacturing process and upgrade the latest architecture, and will be installed on Mate 40 series models.

Previously, TSMC would not contract chips for Huawei Hisense after September 15 due to the sanctions and prohibitions of the United States. Therefore, Huawei would have to rely on the chips that were completed before September 15 for high-end mobile phones at least for the next period of time. Therefore, Kirin 9000 and carrier Mate 40 series might become popular products. However, due to the escalation of US sanctions a week ago, manufacturers such as MediaTek may no longer be able to supply Huawei in the future.

As one of the three major consumer electronics exhibitions in the world every year, IFA held in Berlin, Germany, usually becomes a stage for many manufacturers to display new products. This year's IFA exhibition will be held from September 3 to September 5, but the number of visitors affected by the epidemic will be strictly controlled.
