The OPPO Enco W51 wireless noise reduction headset was released on June 5 at a friend price of 469 and sold for the first time on June 12. We have also experienced nearly half a month, and we should also report the use experience of W51 in terms of sound quality, delay, noise reduction and endurance.
When you think about it, the first generation AirPods has been in 2016. It took four years for the TWS headset to fall into the expected price range of mainstream users after the introduction of mature solutions from Bluetooth 5.0, Loda/Qualcomm and other chip manufacturers.
More than 10000 mobile phones are equipped with 1999 AirPods Pro. Even now, many people feel that something is wrong. Enco W51's 469 friends attitude (original price: 499 yuan) is obviously more sincere. If we say that the iPad is the most cost-effective Apple product. The most cost-effective OPPO product is probably the Enco W series earphones.
appearance
The packaging is consistent with W31, simple but textured. Accessories: 3 sizes of silicone ear caps, data cables, instructions, etc. In the instruction manual, there are detailed function setting instructions such as the color of the charge box's power indicator, and recovery from the factory, which is worth looking at.
Enco W51 is available in black gold, bright blue and pure white. Personally, it still looks white and versatile, but it is really easy to look old. Users with strong ear oil secretion are recommended to choose other colors. Enco W51 has a protection level of IP54, so don't worry about wearing it in rain or using it poorly.

The Enco W51 charging box is changed to a more common and portable square like box. However, the opening and closing direction of Enco W series charging storage box is still puzzling. Seriously, the opening and closing directions of AirPods and OPPO Enco Free are more convenient.
Although the cover has magnetic force, it cannot be opened and closed by one hand due to the opening and closing direction. However, this opening and closing direction is convenient to take care of. It won't hide dirt like AirPods, and it can never be opened in your pocket by mistake (it may be more comfortable to cheat yourself).
Wearing comfort
Users who have never started noise reduction earphones must have appropriate psychological expectations. Wearing comfort is the biggest loss of noise reduction earphones compared with ordinary wireless earphones.
No matter how good the earphones are, it's hard to compare them with the feeling of semi earphones that they seem not to be wearing. Just as AirPods Pro is not as comfortable as AirPods, W51 is not as comfortable as W31. If you feel obvious support or foreign body, try replacing smaller silicone ear caps, or even using ear caps of different sizes for the left and right ears.
However, if it is placed in a wireless headset with a price below 1000 yuan, the wearing comfort of the Enco W51 is of the same level. The weight is very light. Wearing it for an hour or two will not cause obvious foreign body feeling.
After the noise reduction earphones are turned on for noise reduction, the "ear pressure feeling" that compresses the eardrum is not very obvious, but it still exists. This feeling is generally proportional to the level of noise reduction. Adaptation and daily use
OPPO has announced that it will gradually open the audio interconnection agreement this year, and may open the direct connection function to other manufacturers' mobile phones in the future. However, the speed matching function of Enco W51 is only for the relatively new OPPO mobile phones (ColorOS 7.0 or above, A series, Reno2Z, R15 are excluded), cover opening - pop-up window - connection, and completion. Some OPPO models need to manually upgrade the APP of the OPPO wireless device to have this function, but if it is difficult, you'd better wait for the official push.
Other devices are just ordinary Bluetooth headsets, and you can manually select them from the Bluetooth list. It's not too much trouble. After all, most people only have one mobile phone, and this pop-up window is used very infrequently (only the Ace 2 on hand doesn't know what's wrong, even if the latest OPPO wireless device app is installed, there is no pop-up window). Updated on June 30, Ace 2 already has pop-up function, but it is still unable to set the tapping of earphones for the time being. It is estimated that it will have to wait for adaptation.
The only software interaction of Enco W51 is to check the power in the status bar and the Bluetooth list (the accuracy is every 10%), and switch AAC coding in the Bluetooth settings. The tapping function can be customized on the supported OPPO mobile phones.
The hardware interaction only has "left ear double click switch noise reduction, right ear double click cut song, left ear three click call out voice assistant". The actual knock interaction experience is average, and this problem also exists in W31. The main reason is that the sensitivity is not high, but it is easy to touch the voice assistant by mistake (I don't know whether it is an individual problem), and it is a pity that there is no volume adjustment.
The tapping experience is the weakest link in the use experience of Enco W51, and it needs some exploration to get a hundred hits. Different wearing habits and angles will have an impact. Try cross hand tapping, different tapping and angles to improve the trigger success rate.
The best personal impression is that OPPO not only does not bind its own mobile phone and ecosystem, but even the PC can have a complete intelligent experience (although the PC cannot see the power, the function of automatically continuing to play after wearing the headset is only available for OPPO mobile phones). In cross screen use, there is a fast switching function like AirPods left.
All interactive functions of Enco W51 are completed by its own hardware. No matter what mobile phone or notebook you use, you don't need to worry about the castration of interactive functions:
Take out the headset from the charging box to complete the connection with the mobile phone/PC;
Take off the headset and pause the play automatically;
Xiaoai can be awakened on Xiaomi, Siri can be awakened on iPhone;

The Enco W51 can be used alone, regardless of whether the left or right ears are in charge or not. Even if it is unfortunately lost or left alone, it can still be used. It can also be used as a noise reduction earplug without any equipment, which can be said to be very grounded.
But now there is no line for earphones. When you use one earphone with a female classmate, there is no line to pull you. It is a little more free and convenient. It has a disadvantage.
In addition to a few minor problems that have little impact, such as "going down the stairs, passing the deceleration strip by car, occasionally making a thumping sound due to the headphone hitting your ear; squeezing the subway and other ultra complex wireless environments, music cards once or twice", the Enco W51 has no other problems of disconnection or unstable connection, and is still very comfortable for daily use.

Wireless noise reduction earphones are intelligent hardware that focus on improving the convenience of audio experience and use scenarios, focusing on convenience and intelligence rather than sound quality. After all, they are Bluetooth headsets. After all, even the benchmark AirPods Pro has mediocre audio quality. Users who have requirements for audio quality cannot expect too much.
The wireless transmission speed of Bluetooth is limited, so there must be compression. The most direct impact on audio quality in software is coding. The best theoretical sound quality is the LDAC of Sony, the LHDC of Huawei, the Apt-X series of Qualcomm, the AAC, and the basic SBC.
Enco W51 only supports AAC at most, which may be a comprehensive consideration of cost, stability and delay. The 7mm dual TPU composite graphene diaphragm horn claims that the separation of the diaphragm dome and the overhang will make high-frequency bright and transparent, and low-frequency powerful.
In fact, our AirPods Pro user said that the sound quality of the Enco W51 is one gear higher than Apple's boiled water. However, the audio is greatly affected by personal preferences. It's too metaphysical. I suggest you try it in a physical store if you can. The personal summary of Enco W51 is that high frequency is transparent and low frequency is sufficient:
High frequency is bright and smooth, with slight burr, less overtones and good extension;
It is relatively weak against the intermediate frequency, relatively dense, with slight electric sound;
Low frequency elasticity is similar to that of diving, but it has a strong sense of quantity. Users who like rock and roll may prefer it.
After noise reduction is turned on, the loss of sound quality is less. Although the sound field will be slightly smaller, there will be a sense of immersion after removing the background sound. It claims to be the first system level sound quality compensation algorithm in the industry, which will further enhance the high and low frequencies. The delay data of OPPO Enco W51 is consistent with that of W31. The whole link transmission demonstration is 94ms, and the double transmission is 47ms. Of course, this extremely low delay can only be achieved with the new OPPO mobile phone. According to the actual measurement, OPPO's own mobile phone can achieve a delay of less than 140ms, while Xiaomi has reached more than 300.
Fortunately, with this delay, Xiaomi 10 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max and a computer are used together with Enco W51 to watch videos. It is not obvious that the sound and picture of wireless headphones are out of sync. As a chicken dish, it is barely enough to eat chicken with it (probably because it is too delicious).

Enco W51 is a common hybrid noise reduction of feedforward (external noise reduction)+feedback (in ear noise reduction). With the cooperation of six microphones (three microphones in a single ear), the noise reduction depth can reach 35dB, and the call quality can also be guaranteed at a wind speed of 25km/h. The official claims that it is also optimized for commuting and travel. This noise reduction specification is hard to compete with TWS earphones below 1000 yuan.
Although it is difficult to quantify metaphysics, AirPods Pro users said that Enco W51 has reached 80% of the early firmware level of AirPods Pro, which is enough. Personally, this noise reduction level is very sweet. It can reduce the noise, but it is not impossible to hear anything. On the commuter road, it is safer to walk on the street.
As soon as the noise reduction is turned on, you can feel the sharp reduction of middle and low frequency noise with one ear, especially the buzz of wind and air conditioner. Although not all sounds are quiet, in the office environment, there is basically only the sound of mechanical keyboard. The 25km/h wind speed prevention in the parameter refers to the noise reduction of calls. When jogging and listening to songs, the wind noise is not obvious, but there will be wind noise when running a little faster.
In my opinion, noise reduction has two meanings:
Hearing protection: With earphones in noisy environments, we will automatically turn up the volume, and then listen to the street. I usually turn on 4/15 volume when commuting (Android defaults to 15 volume) to hear the content clearly. After turning on the noise reduction, 1 or 2 volume is enough. I can even use the appropriate volume to listen in the car, which is something I never thought before.
Immersion: A quiet background sound greatly enhances the immersion of the song. After the noise of the real environment is reduced, there is a sense of separation. As a result, no matter what you look at on the street, it is like watching MV when you listen to music with noise reduction. Many songs will have new insights after matching the MV screen. Listening to the songs of Xueyou and Zongsheng on the street will have more internal flavor.
Noise reduction earphones are things that can't be returned after being used. Even if it's just for commuting for a day or two, once you forget to wear it, you will find that the usual commuting noise suddenly becomes unbearable. This is the side effect of becoming more acute in hearing (it may be more comfortable to cheat yourself).
Of course, the Enco W51 can also be used as an earplug without listening to music. When learning or writing, it is better to cooperate with the meditation mode.
Endurance
Enco W51 headphone body 25 mAh battery, charging box 480 mAh. The actual endurance is close to the official standard. It takes about 3.5 hours to turn on the noise reduction, but it takes about 4 hours not to turn on the noise reduction. The charging box itself can charge it for 5 times, and a charging cycle can last 20-24 hours. Commuting use, charge it once a week or so.
The charging speed of the charging box is a little slow. It takes 80 minutes for wired charging and 2.5 hours for wireless charging. When I went out temporarily, I found that the charging box had no power and no cable. The mobile phone that supports reverse wireless charging can also be used in an emergency.
If the main use scenario is commuting, there are wireless charging boards in the company and at home, so you can put the charging box on, and even have the illusion that "this thing doesn't need charging". But if I wear it till night, get up and commute to work with my mobile phone connected, and go to the company with my computer connected, I have to put it back into the charging box for half an hour or so before lunch/dinner, which can basically keep my ears busy all day.

However, only AAC is a pity for Enco W51, the strange opening and closing direction of the charging box, and the insensitive double click operation are all a pity. However, the Bluetooth headset has good sound quality, low latency, versatility across mobile phone brands and even computers, very sweet noise reduction effect, and no one needs to manage the endurance. With the price of Xiangda and OPPO, this is the first wireless noise reduction headset for young people.
