On December 27, it was reported that Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's consumer business, said in an interview with French media last week that the upgraded version of Huawei Mate X would be released on MWC 2020, which has better hinge design, better processor and better folding screen.
He Gang, president of Huawei's terminal mobile phone product line, previously disclosed that Huawei is preparing a new model called Mate Xs, which is equipped with Kirin 990 5G and is expected to be launched in March 2020. This time point coincides with the mobile phone disclosed by Yu Chengdong, so Huawei Mate Xs should be released around February 24 (MWC 2020) and launched in March.
According to the information from Taiwan's supply chain manufacturers, the true successor of Mate X will be released sometime in the second half of next year. It was revealed that Huawei's hinge and panel suppliers had begun small-scale trial production of the components required for this new type of foldable mobile phone.
The manufacturer sees the potential of the collapsible smartphone market, so it hopes to expand its production scale. Having said that, foldable products need complex component design, and there are also restrictions on the supply of flexible display panels, so it is not completely clear how successful large-scale production will be.
It is worth noting that Huawei Mate X is still in a state of limited rush purchase. It is only sold on Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:08, while Samsung Galaxy Fold has been sold.
