Vivo cooperates with Samsung to develop Exynos 980 and X30

On November 7, it was reported that this afternoon, Vivo and Samsung demonstrated the Exynos 980 chip in Beijing. According to the official introduction, this chip inherits the dual mode 5G and AI, condensing the technological innovation advantages of Samsung and Vivo.

The Exynos 980 supports both NSA and SA networking modes. In the 5G communication environment, namely, the frequency band below Sub-6GHz, the maximum download rate can be 2.55Gbps. In the 4G-5G dual connectivity (E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity, EN-DC) state, the maximum download rate can be 3.55Gbps. In addition, Exynos 980 also integrates 5G baseband into SoC, which greatly saves cloth board area, leaves more space for fuselage design, and makes scheduling between parts faster and more efficient.

Exynos 980 also optimizes AI computing capacity. The CPU uses ARM's new generation Cortex-A77 architecture, with a total of two 2.2 GHz Cortex-A55 and six 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55, which are manufactured using the 8nm FinFET process. The same frequency performance is 20% higher than that of the Cortex-A76 architecture. The GPU is Mali-G76 MP5 and supports a maximum screen resolution of 3360x1440.

Exynos 980 also has built-in high-performance NPU and DSP units, supports 108 million pixel single camera, or 20 million pixel dual camera, 4K resolution 120 fps video capture, supports LPDDR4x running memory, UFS 2.1/eMMC 5.1 flash memory.

Vivo announced at the meeting that it will launch the vivo X30 in December, which is equipped with the Exynos 980.
