Google will face a broader antitrust investigation. Senior executives: It's no surprise

On November 15, it was reported by CNBC that 50 attorneys general who are investigating Google's advertising business are now planning to investigate the company's search engine and Android system. A spokesman for the person in charge of the survey previously said: "At present, the survey on many continents only focuses on online advertising, but the facts we find will determine the final direction of the survey."

The investigation conducted by the US Department of Justice aims to find out whether Google has violated the anti-monopoly law due to the scale and scope of its business. Because Google is dominant in many fields, it is often accused of monopoly. Last year, the EU imposed a record fine of 5 billion US dollars on Google because Google violated anti-monopoly regulations related to Android system.

The EU said that Google asked smartphone manufacturers to authorize the pre installation of Google search and Chrome browser on their phones. In addition to the fine, Google was also forced to promote other search engines and mobile browsers to Android phone users in the EU, and Google is appealing.

If the US Department of Justice finds out that Google has monopolistic behavior, the latter may face the result of the company being split, which has precedent before.

Google said it would cooperate with the investigation. In September this year, Kent Walker, the company's senior vice president in charge of global affairs, said: "Over the years, we have answered many such questions, including in the United States and overseas, involving various businesses, so this (antitrust investigation) is not new to us. The Department of Justice asked us to provide information about these past investigations, and we expect the state attorney general to raise similar questions. We have been working constructively with regulators and will continue to do so. We look forward to showing how we can invest in innovation, provide the services people want, and participate in fierce and fair competition. "
