Huawei has become the biggest winner in the domestic mobile phone market, and its market share is expected to exceed 50% in the fourth quarter

On November 14, it was reported that Apple has had a hard time in China since the end of last year, but the latest report shows that the recently released iPhone 11 series may finally end Apple's long-term negative growth.

According to IDC, an international data company, the total shipments of smart phone brands in the Chinese market in the third quarter of 2019 were 98.9 million, down 3.6% from 102.6 million in the same period last year. As expected, this American company continues to rank fifth, but Apple is one of only two companies whose performance has grown, and the gap between it and Xiaomi, the fourth place, is narrowing.

IDC reports that from the beginning of July to the end of September this year, Apple shipped about 8.1 million iPhones, up 5.6% year on year. Apple sold 7.6 million iPhones in the same period last year. IDC believes that the growth of performance can be attributed to the iPhone 11 series. These two devices have "competitive pricing" and "significantly improved camera and battery life".

Unlike last year's iPhone XR, which was launched in October, Apple chose to launch a new "cheap" iPhone in September, which greatly boosted its performance in the third quarter. However, the real impact of the iPhone 11 series may only be reflected in this quarter. The iPhone 11 helped Apple become the champion brand of mobile phone sales for many e-commerce platforms on the Double 11 this year, so the iPhone shipments in China should also increase in the fourth quarter.

However, the biggest winner in the third quarter was Huawei, which led the domestic market with 41.5 million units shipped, only 25.2 million units in the same period last year, up 64.6% year on year, and its market share increased from 24.6% to 42%. Most of Huawei's mobile phone shipments are contributed by the relatively inexpensive Nova, Changxiang and Glory series, but Mate and P series mobile phones are also welcomed by consumers.

IDC did not predict Huawei's next performance, but the company also achieved great success in the Double 11. If it is reported that Huawei maintains this high growth momentum, its market share in China may exceed 50% for the first time.

When the overall shipments of the market are declining, Huawei and Apple are growing, and other manufacturers are bound to decline. They are Vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi. All three companies have significant declines in shipments, and the situation in the fourth quarter is still not optimistic.

The market share of vivo, which ranked second, was 18.3%, with 18.1 million units shipped, down 18.9% from 22.3 million units in the third quarter of 2018. OPPO ranked third with 16.4 million units shipped, down 21.7% from 21 million units in the same period last year.

The biggest drop was Xiaomi, which ranked fourth. In the third quarter, the company shipped 9.7 million units, a sharp drop of 30.5% compared with 14 million units in the same period last year.
