In the third quarter of 2018, the global smartphone shipments were 359.8 million units, and currently about 366.3 million units. Analysts believe that there are two main factors driving it - fierce price competition and the gradual introduction of 5G.

However, among the top five smartphone manufacturers, only Huawei and Samsung have seen significant growth. Compared with the same period last year, Samsung increased by 8%, while Huawei increased by 29%. On the other hand, Apple's market share continued to decline, down 3% year on year, as did Xiaomi and OPPO.

Analysts said that Samsung's good performance was mainly attributed to the Galaxy Note10 series, whose sales exceeded the previous generation Galaxy Note9. Considering the problems Huawei faced with its suppliers after the US trade ban, it was not easy for Huawei to achieve this result, mainly because Huawei's outstanding performance in the domestic market offset these disadvantages.
