Qualcomm will release Snapdragon 865 in early December, integrating 5G baseband

On November 11, it was reported that the Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit would be held in Hawaii from December 3 to December 5, when the new flagship SoC Snapdragon 865 would be launched. This chip will be manufactured by Samsung using its 7nm EUV process, and in 2021, TSMC will use the 5nm process to produce Snapdragon 875.

Last month, the 8848 mobile phone announced that it would use Snapdragon 865, specifically the titanium mobile phone M6 5G. It is said that Qualcomm will release two versions of Snapdragon 865, one of which is internally named "Kona" and the other is "Huracan". One version will have built-in Snapdragon X55 baseband and support mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G band. This version of Snapdragon 865 should be adopted by most flagship phones.

According to foreign media forecasts, the Snapdragon 865 uses a customized CPU core based on ARM Cortex-A77, as well as a new Adreno GPU that supports LPDDR5 running memory chips. Previously, Geekbench of Snapdragon 865 was exposed, with a single core score of 4250 and a multi-core score of 13300, lower than the scores of Apple A13 bionics 5472 and 13769.

ElectronicDesign predicts that by 2020, the shipment of 5G mobile phones will reach 175 million to 225 million units. In addition to faster network speeds, 5G will promote new industry and business opportunities, which may inject a shot in the arm into the global economy.
