The Exynos 990 is manufactured using the 7nm EUV process. Officially, it is 20% faster than the previous Exynos 9820 and Exynos 9825, and it saves more power. Samsung has introduced a new modem for the Exynos 990, which supports 5G Exynos 5123.

Samsung usually doesn't disclose the main frequency of the CPU, but it depends on the subsequent performance. The Exynos 990 has two customized CPU cores, two high-performance Cortex A76 and a set of Cortex-A55.

The Exynos 990 retains the dual core NPU, but the DSP has made progress. Samsung said that its computing power can reach more than 10 trillion times per second. In order to improve efficiency and security, NPU now supports localized AI, which means that Exynos 990 can process data on the device without relying on the network and server, making facial recognition and photographic scene detection faster.

Exynos 5123 also uses the 7nm EUV process. Samsung promises to support almost all networks. The downlink speed of LTE networks can reach up to 3 Gbps. In 5G, it supports 8CA at most, and the downlink speed below 6 GHz can reach 5.1 Gbps, while mmWave is 7.35 Gbps.

Exynos 990 supports LPDDR5 and 108 megapixel photosensitive components. Exynos 990 and Exynos 5123 will be mass produced at the end of this year, just in time for the launch of Samsung Galaxy S11.
