On October 25, it was reported that Counterpoint Research, a market research organization, had just released an analysis report on the Indian smartphone market in the third quarter of this year. Despite the global economic slowdown, India still broke the shipping record with sales of 49 million units.
Analysts said that before the India Dideng Festival, the product portfolio of top brands expanded significantly, which is often related to discount activities, and is also one of the main factors driving the shipment volume to a record high. It seems that Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, vivo and realme benefited most from the shopping activities in the third quarter.
Although it dropped by 1 percentage point year on year, Xiaomi continued to lead the Indian smartphone market with 26% market share, while Samsung ranked second with 20% market share, down 3 percentage points year on year.
Compared with the third quarter of 2018, vivo and realme have the fastest growth rates, 7 percentage points and 13 percentage points respectively. The data of realme is impressive, because the market share of this young brand in India has increased more than four times. Realme also recently launched realme X2 Pro mobile phone in China. This is a cost-effective mobile phone with flagship performance, which should help realme to gain a firm foothold in the price range of 2000-3000 yuan.
