Love and hate of waterfall screen
There is no doubt that the waterfall screen on the NEX3 is shocking. At the first sight of the waterfall screen, there is indeed a bright feeling. The curvature on both sides is very large, so when viewed from the front, it feels like there is no border on both sides. Holding it in your hand really feels like holding a screen. When the sense of joy and surprise fades, let's see what impact this waterfall screen has on daily use.
First of all, let's talk about the appearance of this screen. The fineness is relatively ordinary. Imagine that the 6.89 inch 1080P Samsung A screen has a converted PPI of 296, which does not even meet the standard of the retinal screen. It is really not "flagship". A little closer, you can see the sense of particles. Especially for myopic people, if you look at it from a normal distance, you can barely see it;
However, the fineness is still different from person to person. Some people may not be very sensitive, but the author still thinks that this screen is almost meaningless. Compared with the previous two generations, it has been reversed.
The second is the display problem. Due to the large curvature of the screen, the reflection of the glass on the surface of the screen is also quite obvious. It does not have a great impact on normal use, but it is a bit worried about the flicker of the light. In addition, sometimes if you watch some videos with lower subtitles, the subtitles may "bend" away.
The third is the problem of false touch. When using NEX3, the author is also worried about the problem of false touch. After the actual use, this worry is redundant. It is impossible to say that there is no false touch, The NEX3's false touch situation is similar to that of ordinary mobile phones, even better than that of many curved screen mobile phones, so daily use will have little impact.
Finally, because of the waterfall screen, the NEX3 body keys are made into pressure sensitive keys. I am not used to using the pressure sensitive keys for the first time. Fortunately, the X-axis linear motor has been replaced this time, and the vibration feedback is good. The power key position is textured. It is no problem to press the power key blindly. A solid power key is also reserved on the top of the body.
What the author is not very comfortable with is the adjustment of the volume button. The volume up and down buttons are respectively on the upper and lower parts of the power button. Although there are signs of "+" and "-", there is no texture. So every time you want to adjust the volume, you must first find the position of the power button, and then adjust the volume. In the final analysis, it is still a problem of use habits. After several days of use, you are gradually familiar with it.
