On September 19, it was reported that there was a recent rumor that the new iPad Pro would be released at the end of October, but the Korean website Elec reported that Apple planned to update the iPad Pro in March 2020.
Elec said that the camera of the new iPad Pro may be upgraded considerably, and the rumored three cameras may debut on the model in March 2020. It is expected that the layout of the new camera will be similar to that of the iPhone 11 Pro, although the functions of the two will be somewhat different.
Elec believes that Apple has signed an agreement with LG to provide ToF sensors for the next generation of tablets. This module can help the camera capture a large amount of depth data and improve the AR experience. The main camera or ultra wide-angle lens is matched with the 3D sensor. The use of the telephoto lens will not bring much benefit to AR, so the ultra wide-angle lens is more likely.
Apple usually updates its iPad Pro every 18 months or so. It was previously reported that Apple will break this tradition in October this year. If so, it is unnecessary to hold another press conference in March next year. There may be three possibilities:
Apple will skip the rumored October update, and instead make a major upgrade to the iPad Pro in March 2020, including 3D sensors and internal improvements;
Apple abandons the upgrade plan in March 2020 and will release 2019 iPad Pro with three rear cameras next month;
Apple will launch 2019 iPad Pro next month, including Apple A13X Bionic and other internal changes. Then in March 2020, Apple released some updated models with additional camera sensors installed on the back.
