Notebook evaluation - Glory MagicBook Pro image and text evaluation

The excellent cost performance of the previous generation of Glory MagicBook has attracted the attention of many users, especially the Sharp Dragon version, which has a price of 4000 yuan. Apart from the general screen, there is really nothing to criticize. The author also recommended several friends with a budget of only 4000 yuan to buy it. This generation of Glory MagicBook Pro upgraded the screen to a 16.1-inch high screen ratio screen, which made up for the weakness of the previous generation's screen. After two weeks of honoring MagicBook Pro, the author gives you a detailed graphic evaluation.

Appearance design

Starting from the appearance, Glory MagicBook Pro uses an aluminum alloy body, which continues the previous generation's simple design. There are not too many unnecessary elements in the body, but a simple business design style.

Surface A is designed with frosted aluminum alloy, and there is only one LOGO on the front, which is simple and clear. When I got it for the first time, I didn't think there was anything special about this machine until I turned to the B side of the machine. One of the highlights of this glory MagicBook Pro is that it is equipped with a 16.1 inch screen with a narrow border design, and the proportion of the screen reaches 90%. As for the harm of this screen, I will introduce it again below, Here, we first focus on the appearance design of the Glory MagicBook Pro.

The C side of the keyboard is a little more complicated. There are two speaker openings on the side of the keyboard, two speakers on the front, and the power button and fingerprint identification button are integrated together. The power fingerprint two in one button is designed in black, and there is no big sense of existence when it is placed on the front double speaker opening.

A button is added between F6 and F7 to pop up the camera. The advantage of this is that it increases the proportion of the front screen. The disadvantage is that the camera's shooting angle is very limited, so the camera is not practical and should be able to respond to emergencies.

The keyboard has a white backlight, and key feedback is OK in the slim notebook. It is a pity that there is no keypad, and there is still space left on the left and right sides of the C side. I think I can add a keypad. After all, some people are still accustomed to using the keypad to input numbers.

Below the keyboard is an integrated touch control panel, which feels fairly good. It is recommended to buy a mouse for long-term use. There is also a MagicBook Pro feature "Magic Link" in the lower right corner of the C surface, which is a touch to pass function, which will be described in detail below.

There are Type-C, HDMI and Type-A connectors on the left side of the fuselage, of which Type-C supports PD fast charging, two Type-A connectors on the right side of the fuselage and one headphone connector. There are three Type-A interfaces and one Type-C interface in the body. All USB interfaces support the USB3.0 protocol. The Type-C interface should act as the charging port and data transmission interface, because there is only one Type-C interface. If the laptop is charging, there is no way to use the C interface to transfer files.

Glory MagicBook Pro has a low-key, introverted and business style appearance, which is a standard lightweight design language.

Screen performance

Then let's talk about the 16.1 inch screen, which uses a narrow border design. The three sides are narrow. The MagicBook logo is placed on the bottom border. The fog screen design accounts for 90% of the screen. The full screen notebook is OK.

Through AIDA64, we can find that the panel model of MagicBook Pro screen is CMN1603, and the panel is from Qunzhuang Optoelectronics. The corresponding information can be found on the screen library, such as the nominal 300nit brightness, 1920 x 1080 resolution, 8bit color depth, 100% sRGB color gamut, etc. The above parameters indicate that this screen has a good performance. Here, it should be noted that the screen with the nominal 72% NTSC color gamut may not cover the entire sRGB color gamut, but the reverse is true. This is also consistent with our test results. In the past, we tested notebooks with a nominal 72% NTSC and basically only had about 90% sRGB color gamut coverage.

The measured coverage of the MagicBook Pro on our hand is Δ E on average zero point three one , maximum Δ E one point two seven , center maximum brightness 345nit The maximum brightness of the screen is 320 nit at the top left, 327 nit at the bottom left, 325 nit at the top right, and 312 nit at the bottom right, slightly higher than the nominal 300 nit brightness. The brightness uniformity of the screen is good, and the color temperature is close to 6500K , contrast 1417.8:1 Gamma also performs very well.

Glory also provides display management in the system. You can turn on eye protection mode in this setting, and you can also adjust the color temperature of the screen by yourself. Ordinary users recommend using the default color temperature. After all, the default color temperature is very close to 6500K, so it is unnecessary to adjust the color temperature.

The actual appearance of the Glory MagicBook Pro screen is also quite good. The color display is accurate, comfortable, and overly natural. And such excellent color performance, without color correction processing, can be directly used for post revision and color matching. I have to say that the screen equipped by Glory MagicBook Pro is the best screen at the corresponding price.

performance

Our MagicBook Pro CPU is equipped with Intel i7 8565U , 4-core 8-thread, 8MB three-level cache, default frequency 1.8GHz, maximum Remax frequency 4.6GHz. The i5 is optional for the low configuration version.

NVIDIA's graphics card MX250 Independent graphics card. This graphics card is a common independent graphics card for light and thin books. It is an entry-level independent graphics card.

Dual channel 8G DDR4 Memory, memory frequency 2666MHz.

Samsung solid state disk PM981 PCIe x4 channel NVMe solid state disk, TLC particles, 512GB capacity.

Now let's learn about the performance of this notebook through a simple run.

PCMark 10 benchmark

PCMark 10 scores reflect the comprehensive performance of computers, including daily web browsing, video playback, the use of productivity tools, content creation, and a series of scores. For lightweight books, it is more meaningful to refer to than running CPU or video card tests alone.

The performance is basically the same as that of the thin and light notebook with similar configurations on the market.

It is no problem to play mainstream online games such as LOL, DOTA, CSGO, etc. after work, because these games do not require high computer performance. Forget the latest 3A masterpiece. This kind of game is not frivolous and can be controlled.

Hard disk score

The AS SSD Benchmark scores 2.5GB/s for sequential reading, 1.8GB/s for sequential writing, and 4648 for 4K random reading and writing.

The other hard disk test software, CrystalDiskMark, measured higher data. The sequential reading reaches 3.4GB/s, and the sequential reading reaches 2.0GB/s.

It can also maintain good performance under the test of 32GB large files.

The performance of Samsung PM981 is really excellent, and it is a kind of TLC particles with strong neutral energy at present. The actual use speed is also very fast, and it will not become a bottleneck.

Copying machine

Use AIDA64 plus Furmark double baking, and use software to monitor the temperature, frequency and power consumption of the processor. It is used to test the heat dissipation and processor scheduling of the machine.

The stress FPU and Furmark double baking lasted for 15 minutes. The maximum CPU temperature reached 93 ° C at the beginning of the copying process, and then stabilized around 78 ° C. At this time, the power consumption was 15W, and the full core frequency of the CPU was maintained at 2.2GHz.

The maximum temperature of the graphics card is 68 ° C. Visible Glory MagicBook Pro sets the temperature wall of the graphics card near 68 ° C, and the frequency is 1240MHz.

The CPU can maintain 15W power consumption under the condition of the Stress FPU and Furmark high load double baking, which is more powerful in thin and light books.

The maximum temperature of the double baking lower surface is 44.5 ° C, and the heating is concentrated in the middle and upper part of the keyboard, and the influence of the direction keys is relatively small. The maximum temperature at the back is 41.6 ° C, and the temperature is concentrated near the air outlet.

It should be explained that double baking will not occur in actual use. The temperature and load conditions are much lower than those of the copying machine. The copying machine is only used to test the limit conditions of the machine.

Charging and endurance

Glory MagicBook Pro is a versatile laptop, so the performance of endurance is also very important. After all, this kind of laptop is not often plugged in.

Glory MagicBook Pro comes with 56Wh High capacity battery, using PD fast charging based on Type-C port, with maximum charging power of 65W. Interestingly, the charging head attached with the machine supports the low-voltage PD charging gear, which means that the charging head can quickly charge the mobile phone PD.

Fixed two-thirds of the screen brightness, 3/4 performance of the battery option, 5 PCMark 10 benchmark tests were run, which took two hours and 20 minutes in total, and the remaining power was 19%. The power consumption of the test is also shown in the screenshot. Some items of the PCMark 10 benchmark test have high pressure on the processor. Through the above chart, you can estimate the endurance according to your usage habits.

Features

The Glory MagicBook Pro is equipped with the Magic Link function, which can be used by Glory or Huawei mobile phones equipped with EMUI 9.1.

It is very convenient to use. Put the back of the phone (NFC) close to the Magic link tag at the lower right corner of the notebook. After the notebook and the phone are connected, files can be transferred to each other. This function is actually quite convenient, eliminating the trouble of data lines.

It's a pity that this function is exclusive to Huawei and Glory mobile phones. Other mobile phones cannot use this function, which binds you to Huawei's products, similar to Apple's. From the linkage between laptops and mobile phones, it can be seen that Huawei has also gradually established its own ecosystem.

*Note that the Magic link on the notebook cannot be used after it is torn off, so do not tear it off.

Disassembly

There are a total of 10 screws on the back. There are no hidden screws in the mat and post. After removing the screws, directly use a crowbar to force open a gap, insert the warping piece into the gap, and carefully cut around to open the back cover. The difficulty of disassembly is relatively small.

The above is the internal situation of Glory MagicBook Pro. It is designed with dual fans and dual heat pipes. The fans are large on the left and small on the right. The memory is designed with dual channels on board and cannot be upgraded. The overall workmanship is quite good and neat.

There is an m.2 hard disk bit, which supports PCIe x4 channels. The Samsung PM981 512GB solid state disk is used in the factory. If the capacity is not enough, you can replace the larger solid state disk by yourself.

The network card and Bluetooth use Intel's AC 9560, which supports 2x2 MU-MIMO and 160MHz bandwidth. The maximum rate of WiFi in 5Gz band can reach 1.733Gbps, and Bluetooth 5.0 is also supported.

A 2.5-inch hard disk bit is reserved in the lower right corner. What's more mysterious is that there is no standard hard disk connection cable. This is really the first time to see this situation, which breaks the way for the author to add a hard disk. I have to say that the design of Glory is really unpredictable. Since the hard disk bit is useless, why not empty it and insert a larger battery?

It is not difficult to disassemble Glory MagicBook Pro. However, due to the use of on-board memory, the solid state disk is also 512GB, and there is basically no room for upgrading. Even if you need to replace a 1T solid state disk, the price is not cheap. It is recommended that ordinary people still bring a large capacity mobile disk to store large files.

summary

In the past few days when using Glory MagicBook Pro, the most satisfying thing is its 16.1-inch high screen, excellent color restoration, whether professional painting or daily entertainment, this screen can be competent. Other two in one keys for fingerprint power supply, eight generation i7, independent display card Magic link these are all icing on the cake functions, making this notebook more user-friendly.

Of course, there are also some complaints. The first one is that hard disk space is reserved but no cable is reserved. In this way, 2.5 inch hard disk can not be added. If you want to increase the storage capacity, you can only replace a 1T m.2 main hard disk, which is certainly not cheap. Second, the camera's elevation angle is relatively low, and the number of times the camera is used on the laptop is not much, so the author does not care about this.
