On July 26, it was reported that Counterpoint, a research institution, recently released a report on India's smartphone shipments from April to June this year. The country's smartphone shipments in the second quarter hit a new record of 37 million, a significant increase compared with the same period last year.
Some foreign media believe that vivo, OPPO, realme and Yijia belong to Bubugao Group, so Bubugao is the smartphone manufacturer with the highest sales volume in India, with 30% market share. However, the author believes that this calculation is not rigorous. Vivo has nothing to do with OPPO now. Shen Wei, CEO of Vivo, has stressed this before.
Counterpoint data shows that with its expanding product portfolio and offline sales plan, Xiaomi has once again become the largest smartphone manufacturer in India, accounting for 28% of the local market share. Samsung ranked second with 25% of the market share, thanks to the updated Galaxy A and M series. Vivo, with its strong momentum of Y91 series, ranked third with 11% of the market share. Realme and OPPO also ranked fifth.
Tarun Pathak, Deputy Director of Counterpoint, said that the main reason for the growth of smartphone shipments in India was that different manufacturers had a wide range of entry-level and mid-range mobile phone specifications, giving consumers a wide range of choices. Major brands have also been adding high-end functions to their new products, such as special-shaped screens, full screens, multiple rear cameras, pop-up self cameras and under screen fingerprints, in order to stimulate consumer demand.
In addition, Indian consumers have strong demand for OnePlus 7, and OnePlus has also defeated Samsung in the high-end mobile phone field. In addition, Counterpoint also announced the market share of Indian feature phones in the second quarter. See the figure below for details.
