On July 10, it was reported by WinFuture that Qualcomm was developing a new processor for smart watches. It should be noted that the previously released Snapdragon Wear 3100 has not been widely used by watch manufacturers, and the new treatment will be named Snapdragon Wear 429 or Snapdragon Wear 2700.
The new processor will be produced using the 12nm process. The CPU is equipped with a Cortex-A53 core, while the Snapdragon Wear 3100 uses the older 28nm process and four Cortex-A7 cores. Therefore, the Snapdragon Wear 429/Snapdragon Wear 2700 has better performance and lower power consumption.
It is reported that Qualcomm is testing the Snapdragon Wear 429/Snapdragon Wear 2700. The platform used is equipped with 1GB LPDDR3 memory and 8GB eMMC body storage. It is said that the chip also supports the power saving function, and will assign some tasks with low computing requirements to low-power cores to increase the endurance time.
The name of Snapdragon Wear 429 indicates that the chip is modified from Snapdragon 429, which also uses the 12nm process and Cortex-A53 core. Nokia 3.2 and several other entry-level smartphones are equipped with Snapdragon 429. The maximum CPU main frequency of Snapdragon 429 is 1.95GHz, and that of Snapdragon Wear 429 should be the same, while the maximum CPU main frequency of Snapdragon Wear 3100 is only 1.2GHz. Xiaolong Wear 429 should be more popular with watch manufacturers.
