Source: Apple plans to transfer 15% to 30% of its production lines out of China

On June 20, it was reported that Apple purchased parts from many suppliers all over the world, but mainly assembled products in China. According to the foreign media Phonearena, China's factories currently account for 90% of Apple's total output, but Apple's next plans may change the status quo.

It is reported that Apple has expanded its so-called capital expenditure research team since December last year. At present, more than 30 employees of the team are actively discussing future plans with partners. Some manufacturers may transfer 15% to 30% of the company's production lines to other countries.

According to insiders, Apple has asked some major manufacturers to assess costs, and iPhone, MacBook, iPad and AirPods manufacturers including Foxconn, Hoasus, Inventec, Compal and Quanta are preparing business plans. Other suppliers are also closely watching where these companies intend to move their production lines to adapt to their business models. It is reported that Apple is also negotiating financial incentive policies with some foreign governments, and studying local regulations and business environment.

It is reported that Apple is considering establishing new production lines in Mexico, Indonesia, Malaysia and other places, which should be able to provide the infrastructure and stable environment required for Apple's production. However, Apple seems to like to produce multiple iPhones in India and Vietnam.

It should be noted that the transfer of production lines can not be completed overnight. It is reported that Apple has not set a deadline for manufacturers to submit proposals. Some suppliers said that this plan needs "long-term efforts", and it may take "two or three years" to see results. Apple needs at least 18 months to start production at the selected location. In order to ensure that everything goes smoothly, the initial production will be the lowest. In a word, transferring the production line is not so simple.
