Samsung may sell more than 60 million Galaxy S10 phones this year

On March 27, it was reported by Digitimes that Samsung launched a new Galaxy S10 series of mobile phones to target different market segments, which should lead to an increase in their flagship mobile phone shipments this year. It is reported that the shipments of Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+and Galaxy S10 5G this year will increase by 10% to 15% compared with last year's Galaxy S9 series, which means that the shipments of Samsung's Galaxy S10 series mobile phones are expected to reach 60 million this year.

Samsung still has about 20% of the market share in the smartphone market, while Huawei and Apple each have about 14%. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's consumer business, has made it clear that Huawei is expected to replace Samsung as the world's highest selling smartphone manufacturer as early as this year.

Samsung has also recently launched the Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A50 in the middle and high-end mobile phone market, and there will be Galaxy A60 and Galaxy A90 in the future. The release of more attractive medium and high-end mobile phones may be the secret for Samsung to keep the number one in the market.

The report also points out that the production of Samsung Galaxy Fold is limited, and the sales volume of foldable mobile phones this year will only be 1.5 million to 2.5 million. Samsung Galaxy Fold will be launched on April 26, two or three months earlier than Huawei Mate X in the summer, which will win Samsung the market first, and manufacturers such as OPPO, Xiaomi and TCL are also preparing folding phones.

Samsung really needs to reverse the decline of some businesses. In addition to producing mobile phones, Samsung also provides parts for other mobile phone manufacturers. Last year, weak demand in the mobile phone market, coupled with weak sales of iPhone and other smart phone parts, led Samsung to announce yesterday that its operating profit in the first quarter fell 54% year-on-year. If the mobile phone business does not improve, Samsung's financial situation will be worse this year.
