The Yijia series of mobile phones have always been known as the little prince of machine brushing. Every generation of Yijia flagship has many third-party ROMs. The machine brushing is not only limited to the ROM, but also can be used to brush the core for overclocking or other functions. Many enthusiasts have tried to overclock by brushing the core, but it is really rare to realize the transition from PWM dimming to DC dimming by brushing the core. (Forgive me for my lack of knowledge)
As we all know, Samsung's AMOLED screen uses low-frequency PWM dimming under low brightness, and stroboscopic flashes can be seen when shooting with a camera. Of course, the human eye cannot see stroboscopic flashes, but long-term use will accelerate eye fatigue, so screen A is also called blind screen, but the emergence of this core seems to change this situation.
Thank you first@ Open source and@ The recompiled kernel mage Dan Xiaoding pointed out on his microblog that this kernel is only PWM dimming with high duty cycle, not DC dimming.
The one plus six system in this article is the stable version of OxygenOS 9.0.3 based on Android 9.0
Brush in
About the brushing process: first, unlock the phone BL, and then brush it into TWRP, and finally into the core. Of course, there are more than one method. For details, please refer to Yijia Forum. (These links will be posted at the end of the article) Display this interface and you're done.
Compare the kernel version:
Official default kernel
DC Dimming Core
Official kernel version 4.9.106-perf+ The DC dimming kernel version is 4.9.148~AE86-ETO-OP6/T-Pie-v1.0 This version number AE86 is OK.
Screen strobe test
Manually fix the brightness. On the left is the one with the core painted One plus six , the right is the original kernel One plus 6T . Pictures from left to right are Minimum brightness 、 Quarter brightness 、 Half brightness . See if this kernel really "protects the eyes".
The above is Default Mode
The above is SRGB mode
The above is DCI-P3 mode
The above is Adaptive mode
The above is Custom Mode
The above is Night mode
The coverage color options of DC dimming are the same as those mentioned in the forum. DC dimming covers sRGB, DCI-P3 and night mode, and other modes remain unchanged. stay sRGB 、 DCI-P3 and Night mode By comparison, you can see the obvious difference. Stroboscopic can hardly be seen in the low brightness of the three modes of one plus six. The default mode, adaptive mode and custom mode in the official OxygenOS do not support low brightness DC dimming for the time being, which is just like one plus 6T. This DC dimming core really shocked my little editor who had never seen the world before. This is a small step of dimming mode and a big step of human health!
performance testing
This core also adds three frequency ranges of 2707Mhz, 2764Mhz and 2784Mhz to the CPU core. The maximum frequency of GPU is increased to 830Mhz.
The CPU part of the Geekbench 4 is not very different. After all, only a few gears are added, and the extreme performance has not changed.
The GPU is overclocked to 830Mhz. Both GFXBench and 3DMark focus on GPU performance output 10% Left and right improvements.
During the run, the frequency of GPU basically remained at the highest 830Mhz, and the continuous performance output was stable. There are gains and losses, and the power consumption and temperature will definitely increase with the increase of frequency. The temperature of the back cover is relatively high when playing games everyday.
shortcoming
There is no complete core. This core is still a little bit buggy in use. The official kernel will infinitely adjust the screen brightness to low brightness and then close the screen, but this kernel will suddenly reduce the brightness and then close the screen. The whole process is not smooth enough.
The phenomenon of color fault will appear under the low and medium brightness DC dimming, which is more obvious under the gradient background. Other BUGs mentioned by the author in the forum are switching sRGB DCI-P3、 When the night mode and fingerprint are unlocked, the brightness will suddenly soar. You need to manually adjust the brightness to reduce the screen brightness.
summary
In the short use of the small editor for a few nights, the experience is still better than the official original core. The cost of eye drops is saved. It is recommended that students with hands-on skills brush it. After all, the screen is not blind, and the performance still has improvement. Why not. Thank you again at the end@ @ Thank them for their contributions and outstanding contributions to human health. The following tools are required for flushing into the DC kernel: 、 、 . Interested partners can directly click to learn from the original post, and those who have other ways to brush in can also leave a message in the comment area to share their computer experience.
