Global smartphone sales are stable, and Huawei is growing against the market

Love to play computer games On December 4, it was reported by foreign media that Gartner, a market research organization, recently released a global smartphone sales report for the third quarter of 2018. The global smartphone sales increased by 1.4% year on year, reaching 389 million units. Although Samsung still leads, Huawei is catching up. Without the strong growth of Chinese brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi and OPPO, the global market will decline by 5.2% compared with the third quarter of 2017. The main driving force of the global smartphone market is Chinese mobile phone manufacturers.

Analysts said that Samsung suffered its worst sales decline since the company set foot in smart phones in the third quarter of this year. The Galaxy S9 series and Galaxy Note9 could not stop the decline of Samsung's mobile phones. The sales of the Korean manufacturer fell by 14% year on year. In addition to the significant growth of Huawei's sales, the gap between the two manufacturers was significantly narrowed.

The main reason for Huawei's success is its accurate positioning of Glory mobile phones. Glory has broken various records in major shopping festivals in China, Europe and India.

Apple's sales in the third quarter of 2018 remained stable, growing only 0.7%, equivalent to 300000 iPhones. Anshul Gupta, research director of Gartner, said that Apple is facing fierce competition in China and its target market is the saturated high-end mobile phone field. The iPhone XS Max is more popular than the iPhone XS, after all, the former has a larger screen and supports dual SIM cards.

According to the data, the top five manufacturers of global sales in the third quarter were Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Xiaomi and OPPO, while the three Chinese brands accounted for about 30% of global sales of smart phones. Chinese mobile phone manufacturers have become the backbone of the world.

Foreign media said that although the global smartphone market is losing momentum, the upcoming 5G and folding phones can improve user experience and bring new product value. 2019 will be an uncertain year, and it is expected that the sales of 5G phones will reach 65 million in 2020.

Folding mobile phones will be launched as early as next year, but it can be predicted that their prices will be very expensive, and it will take some time for manufacturers to establish a new ecosystem around these new mobile phones, so do not expect folding mobile phones to have a significant impact on the overall market.
