The foreign media said that because R15 did not perform well, OPPO decided not to use MediaTek's processor on R17. One of the reasons why the United Development Division works hard to strengthen Helio P80 is to win back OPPO orders.

Previous revelations show that Helio P80 adopts TSMC's 12nm process, ARM's 8-core CPU, GPU is improved compared with P60 and P70, and has a dedicated NPU (neural processing unit). Helio P80 is the main product of MediaTek in the first half of 2019, so it should appear on other models after OPPO R19.

Previously, other foreign media used the AI benchmark application on the Play Store to test the AI performance of mobile phone processors including Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 and Helio P80. Snapdragon 8150 ranked first with 22082 points, while MediaTek Helio P80 ranked second with 19453 points, about 7000 points higher than the third place Snapdragon 845. Except Huawei, all Android phones next year should use Snapdragon 8150 chips.
