Up to 32W! Exposure of Qualcomm's latest fast charging technology

As we all know, with the progress and development of science and technology in the past two years, the hardware configuration and performance of mobile phones have also been upgraded and increased year by year. However, the performance has improved, but the battery capacity of our mobile phones has not increased correspondingly. Therefore, in order to solve this contradiction, more and more manufacturers have begun to add the fast charging function to their products.

Qualcomm Quick Charge technology (hereinafter referred to as QC) is one of the most popular fast charge technologies in the market. QC 4.0+fast charge technology has been widely used on Qualcomm Snapdragon 660/670/710/845 mobile platform. The latest news from the recent Qualcomm 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong shows that Qualcomm is committed to developing a new fast charging technology (hereinafter referred to as QC 5.0), which is expected to support 32W wired fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging.

The current Qualcomm QC 4.0+fast charging technology only supports up to 18W wired fast charging. Although this technology can meet the needs of most people for the time being, compared with Huawei's 40W super fast charging technology, The OPPO's top 50W Super VOOC charging technology and Meizu's top 55W mCharge fast charging technology can really be said to be nothing. The sharp contrast forced Qualcomm to upgrade their own QC fast charging technology as soon as possible.

The current QC 4.0+technology divides the current into two paths for charging, which effectively avoids the heating phenomenon during the fast charging process of mobile phones. However, compared with the previous generation of QC 4.0+, the power of QC 5.0 has doubled to 32W. Therefore, Qualcomm plans to use the triple charge method in this technology to divide the current into three paths for charging, so as to deal with the equipment heating problem caused by high-power charging. It is reported that this technology will be unveiled together with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150/855 next year.
