Recently, the famous American disassembly website iFixit released the disassembly report of Google Pixel 3 XL. In the disassembly report, they confirmed that the OLED screen used by Google Pixel 3 came from Samsung, rather than LG, which was widely speculated by the media.
According to the iFixit disassembly report, they found that the Pixel 3XL uses Samsung AMOLED screens instead of OLED screens supplied by LG. In this regard, industry insiders analyze that Google's move is to ensure the competitiveness of its own products this year. Because the display effect of the screen provided by LG for the Pixel 2XL last year was too poor, a large number of users reported that the screen of this phone had various problems such as color saturation and overlapping artifacts. Therefore, Google had to abandon LG and instead use the AMOLED screen provided by Samsung to ensure that the Pixel 3XL would not repeat the mistakes. The iFixit team members also found that the Pixel 3XL uses a Samsung Titan M security chip similar to the Pixel 2XL.
In addition, iFixit also found that it was very difficult to disassemble the phone, and even more difficult to recover it. They found that Google's development team had injected quite a lot of glue into the back panel of Pixel 3, so they had to destroy some parts during the disassembly process. These parts could not even be repaired manually, so they had to purchase these parts again. In the end, the iFixit team gave the phone a low score of 4 points (out of 10 points), which was the same as the dismantling score of the S9 series model released by Samsung last year.
